2 foot ascenders

anybody rock two foot ascenders while climbing? sometimes pulling out the hass can be too much for a fifteen foot ascent. And after a big prune the other day my right leg took a beating. If you do,what techniques or tricks do you use?

Not me. Just put the homebrew HAAS back on. Takes all of 15 seconds to get from stowed position to using. 15ft is about the threshold for that sort of thing.

For short ascents I clip my foot ascender in and step on top of that foot with my other foot (footlock style). Works awesome and it's very efficient.

I just use a homemade knee ascender and leave it on the whole climb. It's never really gotten in my way at all and is always ready to go.

No, I'm not a "smartass." Seriously, I would like to see a picture of your knee ascender to learn how you did it.
My apologies, 1/4" amsteel, locking brummel to ascender and adjustable footloop. Put an old webbing sling around it to help with picking and wear. 20161029_190321.webp Pretty basic but it's worked great for the last couple years

@Jem4417; Well, no wonder your right leg took a beating!

So, you got some really great, simple advice here. It requires the employment of zero additional gear, and it utilizes both sides of your body, so that you don't end up with an overuse injury on one side because you are using it exclusively. So, why would you be resistant to trying such a straightforward, simple technique that gives you twice the power and helps to prevent injury?

Those are all of my thoughts on this.
