I was gonna place the same post as this last week when I crunched most of the #'s for the CPA and saw I was down about 20% in 2009. 2008 was my best year, and I knew I would be down in 09 but didn't expect 20%! Besides that, lost 2 reasonable bids last week, and my wife is pissed at me about something!!! So far Feb 2010 sux!

2008 was a great year for me. The first half of '09 was horrible. I was down about 30%. So, even though the last half was better, I thought my total gross sales was down until I did a P&L. I was very surprised! I pulled back to do 10% more in gross sales. So, 2009 was actually my best year ever.

However, gross sales are not all impressive, IMO. Because I didn't make squat!

09 was great for me strictly because I parted ways with business partner, sold dump trucks and chippers and invested in PHC equipment. Best move I've made yet, but i'm skeptic of what 2010 will bring, always get anxious during the slow season. I need to find some more clever ways o advertise to reach more tree friendly customers. I hope to do a lot more planting this year too.
