Oak wilt in Chestnut Oaks in Maryland

So based on when I last posted on this thread to now; 9 Chestnut Oaks >80ft tall have been removed on my parents property due to the rapid declining in the crowns, resulting in large hazardous Limbs and leads just waiting to take out whatever it wants. And the fact that they’re obviously dying...

Oak wilt in Chestnut Oaks in Maryland

Yes. We are discussing Quercus montana, (didn’t know it used to be Quercus pinus... that’s really interesting they changed it...) the Chestnut OAK...... in the Quercus species, part of the beech family....

    Notch Radius Ring

As a trad climber myself, I’ve learned to take only the protection I need based on the type of rock and the area at which I’m climbing. Turns out a fist in a crack is the same size as a #4 Cam, or a #2 cam pending which way you insert your fist; once the mental aspect of being confident in your...

    Show off them splices

I actually designed that double one with a rap ring on it more for a rock climbing anchor. Sometimes they’ll have bolts or chains drilled into the side of the rock and it makes it so that you can put anchors up there with for your top rope setup. Basically this makes it so that you can throw a...

    Tree With Power Line (Picture)

This kind of experience is what creates someone who starts to learn their lesson in terms of job safety and what should be required in terms of training and how to have a heightened sense of awareness among the job site. There could be a number of reasons for the accidents, but knowing asplundh...

    Tree With Power Line (Picture)

I saw a crow on a single phase who’s wings had hit on either side of the insulator, from wire to bracket, and it was just zapping away every few seconds. I guess the wings had been burnt on at that point. It was shooting pretty big arcs and that thing was louder than you’d think. I was waiting...

Exactly. If they understand the danger that you’ve explained to them, told them the laws about your proximity to working close to the lines, and they aren’t willing to have a drop when you’ve explained and they understand that you believe it’s necessary, then you have a customer who doesn’t...

Tell them it’s for the safety of your workers and if they have a freezer that can hold that amount of meat I’m pretty sure it can handle more than 8 hours of keeping things frozen as long as they don’t open it al the time. Power outages occur. It’s a thing.

    Getting a CDL

Also I’d like to say that in the past few years they have gotten a lot more tedious with everything concerning the preinspection and all

    Getting a CDL

Yea man my instructor was quiet the entire time. He was so intimidating haha. I’ve heard of some pretty laid back guys but this guy I literally said the time and counted the seconds out loud while doing the hold to ensure no more than 3psi leaked haha

Had you caught me four years ago I’d say yea no problem, I mean I guess I could always leave my wife and kid for months/years at a time. But prior to treework I was all rock climbing competitions and then coaching teams for competition, as well as facilitating and training. But this is by far...

Also, the longer the trailer, the easier it’s going to be to back it up. If you can back a chipper on a 550 into a driveway without messing that up, you should be fine backing up larger trailers in larger trucks. Taking the test in the combo that you’ve been practicing in is very helpful as...

    Getting a CDL

@craneguy1 i saw the screen shot after I tried to reply saying I couldn’t view it all. But federally, from what that says, you are correct sir. Now the question is, does it differ from state to state? And the other question is why are so many people under the impression that it’s applied all...

    Getting a CDL

I know what you mean about the bac confusion, I’m actually not so clear on that one myself. i Was always told that it was .04 bac limit no matter what. I didn’t realize it was only applied while driving a CDL vehicle.... maybe it is state by state? But I haven’t done any actual clear cut...

    Getting a CDL

Yea, listen study some flash cards and read the book for the permit. Backing up and driving should be be the easy part, don’t stall out, stop before the white line, announce the height of the bridge youre going under, what do you do st a rail road crossing...but that’s about it. Just drive...

used a few ropes on this one

The tulip poplars in this area are pretty large, if you’re going to be in a tulip poplar in this area you know you’re going to need at least 250+ ft of line to prune it with you have to re tie or some at some point. Then you get to do the sketchy ass limb Traverses with lines you the two lines...

Ddrt ropes being use for SRT

I think I understand what you’re trying to say. Let’s take the aspects of friction and pulley diameter out of it, to make things simpler. What you’re asking is if in MRS the stress based at your TIP is equal to, less than, greater to, etc than SRS through only one TIP with a basal tie. Since...

Ddrt ropes being use for SRT

I’m not too familiar with photo processing but that’s pretty sweet, have you tried adding any heavy metals into the solution (platinum, gold, etc) to see if there’s any different results?
