    DMM throw hook.

I was gonna order one of these to try out as soon as I could, but with the kit being $275, I'll have to wait for Treestuff to get just the hooks in. Hopefully they will be a lot cheaper than the kit. The link above makes me think they'll be around $150, which is still a little pricey to me, but...

    Treemotion

I was also a little worried about the same thing when I ordered my 1st TM a little while back, but once I climbed in it a few times, all my doubt went away. I absolutely love mine. I do inspect my rope bridge and the hip-leg straps often as they are the wear areas. They are easy and cheap to...

Good region specific tree identification books?

I own some property and take care of the trees on it, but other than that, I mostly climb for pleasure.

Good region specific tree identification books?

Thanks Kmac. Yes, I live about 2 miles from the Arboretum and have been there a few times. Pretty cool place. I went to Barnes and Noble and spent some time looking thru their tree books and I also really liked the Peterson Guide along with the National Wildlife Federation Field Guide. I'll look...

    too much friction thru redirect?

Hitch climber is what I ddrt with now along with footy and Haas, so that's good. I'll do some homework on the RW.

    too much friction thru redirect?

Man, lots of really good info I got from this post. Thanks everyone for all the time. Ok, so now I'm really wanting to try some SRT, so what's considered the best and simplest system (if there is one)? I've briefly read up on and watched a few videos on the Rope Runner, Rope Wrench, Unicender...

    too much friction thru redirect?

I tried 2 biners on the same redirect briefly, but the 2 legs of rope still seemed to pull together tight when loaded. I thought about setting 2 different side by side redirects for separation of each leg of rope, but that just seemed like too much trouble. This is one of those things along with...

    too much friction thru redirect?

I had to prune a few dead limbs yesterday out on the very end of a long limbwalk, so I set up a redirect above about half the distance out to lessen the rope angle. Everything was going fine (a little more friction than normal, but not too bad), till I got finished and started my return. The...

10mm Ocean Poly for long lanyard?

I've been holding off on doing the Ocean Poly long lanyard to try using the tail of my climbing line instead. I got to try it yesterday and though it worked fine, it just felt awkward to me compared to using a long lanyard. Does many climbers use the tail of their climbing lines vs long lanyards...

10mm Ocean Poly for long lanyard?

I have the TreeMotion too and I daisy chain my 25' Arbormaster lanyard to a large Petzl Caritool on the right side. I clip the chain twice to reduce overall length. This works well for me.

10mm Ocean Poly for long lanyard?

Yea, I'm also a little worried about the thinner 10mm size and how it will feel. My main line is Tachyon and I do love the size, but I want a small, really easy to daisy chain long lanyard line to try. I thought about just ordering the CE Lanyard rope only since it's in between at 11mm, but I do...

Good region specific tree identification books?

I'm trying to learn most the trees specific to my area, but I can't find any good books. Most my research so far has been online, but once I go into the forest, it's hard to remember all the differences. I figured there was a couple of go to books specific to regions with good color pics...

Anyone know where i can purchase this helmet in the US?

My boy was scared silly the first time I got him up on a serious limb walk about 25' high. At that point, he had been playing around in a big, low, spreading Oak we have and thought he was ready for something over 15'. Now, he's all over that limb and laughs about how scared he was. Good...

Anyone know where i can purchase this helmet in the US?

Me and my son climb together a lot and I wouldn't trade that for anything. You do have to be patient and really observant though to make sure they are doing things right and safe. The Rockman vented helmet over @TreeStuff is a great deal for a lower priced helmet...I bought my son the orange one...

What length throwline for using in tree?

This is what I've also been doing so far, but on the throws more than 6-8 feet above, the weight of the rope makes it difficult for me.

What length throwline for using in tree?

Thanks. Sweet, 25'...that will be easy to manage, coil and store in my diddy bag all while I get more comfortable advancing my tip.

What length throwline for using in tree?

For advancing TIP's, etc. What set-up y'all using--what length throwline, what throwbag weight and how do you hang it on your saddle?

    DMM throw hook.

Thanks for the welcome Merle. Yes, I seen that discussion and it makes sense. I look forward to playing around with one of these. Maybe they'll be available soon and I hope they're not too pricey.

    DMM throw hook.

Any updates when the DMM hook will be available or price? I have serious concerns about using it for moving from tree to tree where the consequences of it slipping loose would be serious, but I'd love to play around with it for moving around within the tree and for setting it out ahead of me for...

    Handsaw choices

I've got the Silky Sugoi 360 and the folding Super Accel 210. Love them both, but carry the Super Accel 210 into the tree the most due to it's small size and quick access on my saddle. Sugoi on the leg when I carry it, but it slides down over time.
