10mm Ocean Poly for long lanyard?

I've been holding off on doing the Ocean Poly long lanyard to try using the tail of my climbing line instead. I got to try it yesterday and though it worked fine, it just felt awkward to me compared to using a long lanyard. Does many climbers use the tail of their climbing lines vs long lanyards and if so, what set-up? I set mine up just like my long lanyard…biner tied with double fisherman on end with pinto and VT hitch on other side. Did my 1st traverse about 25-30' between two trees though which was pretty cool.

Tail end of my rope was my preferance for awhile. I didn't use the long lanyard enough and when I had it maxed out, I usually wished I had another lanyard at my final destination. I just set it up like another climbing system.
Now I just use a 13-14'er something like that. When I need it long, I run it single leg of my bridge.
