    Gerasimek's Tree-mek

The grapplesaw swings and counterbalances the limb. I used the Mecanil all last year on a much smaller (36') k-boom. I watched and studied my boom and how the grapplesaw worked. I quickly realized how awesome this grapplesaw was and decided to buy a Palfinger crane from Tiffin.

    Gerasimek's Tree-mek

I'll apologize for that. The Mecanil SG220 grapplesaw has an 18" bar. I cut everything I can with it. When it gets thicker than 18" I can even do snap cuts with it if the spar doesn't have too much lean. When I'm done with the grapplesaw it's usually short enough to just drop it over. If not, I...

We'll said. You get it. The pieces I bring down are just the right size for 1 man to process easily. Also, the size of the pieces makes them easy to control. I bring each piece down to the chipper and can rotate it to line it up with the chipper. Often there isn't a giant area to bring big...

The 'man' originates from my response to Levi's question. He was poking fun at me saying it and you're poking fun at him. You, in theory should be poking fun at me, but, based on his responses, he deserves it. Thanks Treeguy. Your response shows your understanding of why the tree-mek exists.

It's a crane. That was a really silly question, man.

    Grapple Saw on Kboom

As long as there are men that think they're never going to age, there will be climbers. I am just kidding. There will always be a need for that skill set, but the need will diminish as we move into the future. I t's not like I can prune with this tree-mek! Btw, I have no idea why my pictures...

    I hate bucket trucks.

I will call. And I'll cry and complain. Then I'll tell you how I twisted my ankle getting up from my lawn chair when I had to move it because I was taking my shade down so fast!

    Grapple Saw on Kboom

I have a bobcat 335 excavator that I will definitely put the Mecanil SG160 on. That looks like a lot of fun. Now I don't know about all of you other guys, but I love having fun!

    Grapple Saw on Kboom

I don't think I'd like that Gierkink tilting down on its own. After using the Mecanil I'd find that kind of irritating. It is a brave new world and if you're selling both, you'll do very well. I considered seeing about becoming a dealer, but I'm making so much money using it and enjoying...

    Grapple Saw on Kboom

You are correct. So , if you're going to grab a limb on an angle and you tilt up too far, well, I guess you have to either grab something else or I don't know. I guess you'd have to ask the guy that's selling them. Seems like Mecanil made a better design, to me.

    Grapple Saw on Kboom

When the trunk gets bigger you can do a snap cut if it's a vertical piece. If not, I can hook the basket up and knock it down the old fashioned way or, like you said, hook it. Usually, I can drop whatever is left. I intend to get the SG280. I know I can afford it now. I'd use the SG220 for...

    Grapple Saw on Kboom

I chose the Mecanil SG 220 for a couple reasons. The first, obvious reason, is it makes a bigger cut than the gierkink. The second reason was the difference in how they operate. The Gierkink saw is pressure activated. This means when you close the grapple on a limb it activates when the limb is...

    Grapple Saw on Kboom

That's my knuckle boom with the Mecanil SG 220. If you guys have any questions about it just ask. I'm pretty excited about it. It works perfectly and has made my job easy and my bank account fat. I'll try to get some vids posted. I'm waiting for some decent weather.

What is safer? Lifts or climbing?

My Tree-mek is the safest way to take down most trees.
