WOW guys. Got the TreeMotion last night, and I just have to say - WOW. Now this is the night and day difference I was expecting when compared to the rock harness.
I did end up trying to fuss with the Sentinel again, and even pushing the waist belt down around my hips - It just wasn't...
They might have cut plastic weapons, as cutting plastic with string is a pretty common thing, and plastic shivs made from toothbrushes and the like are also not uncommon... but the only way I can see it being possible to cut metal with something softer than metal is if the softer thing is...
The only complaint I've heard has been there isn't a sight line, and I didn't see a place to connect a lanyard aside from the handle itself.
I really want an electric saw, but I can't justify the husky.
I would have never considered it before, but I got a killer deal on a toro string trimmer...
DeWalt has a top handle and rear handle. They aren't really geared towards pros though.
Makita has made a new top handle geared towards pros with even a place to attach your lanyard.
I like the idea of the Makita for the higher voltage without a special battery system if you have their hand tools.
I'm not saying I don't believe you, in my work we see failure in powder metal gears all the time, we just fail them running high loads against cut steel gears.
Just interested in the cause of failure against a nylon gear. My guess is that sintered parts are brittle and the nylon flexes but the...
From what I understand, poison Ivy, Oak and whatnot essentially causes an allergic reaction to the oil on the plants. Some reaction can be delayed. The primary danger in the reaction being systemic or affecting a large portion of your body is the allergic reaction getting out of hand, and it can...
I wounld up returning the Sentinel for a TreeMotion 2018. TreeStuff matched Sherrill's price at $450, which made it just a little more than the s. lite. Thanks @swingdude for the tip!
I figure I'm not at the limit of the harness, I hear nothing but good about it, it has everything I want and it...
I don't really think the Sentinel is over priced. As far as features go it's on the low side of feature rich harnesses. The quality of it really seems very good, though I have some questions about the size and shape of the person they designed it to fit...
Bango, the plates have no markings, but the harness I believe is made by Edelrid if that points anywhere.
I really like the sit position feeling over a rock harness, but the fit of it or at least the way I have it set drives the top edge of the harness into the bottom edge of my ribcage which...
Wow, I'm dumb. I totally see it now. Wear would have been over the inside of the rings if it somehow was the throw line. I'm a little embarrassed... I saw the scratches in the same direction as the line running and jumped to a conclusion.
I looked really carefully at the line and I just...
Separate post for other topic:
Here's my ring and ring friction saver (DIY):
Here's the wear from the Acculine after one use:
*edit* It was pointed out to me that this is likely the rings rubbing each other and not the line, which makes total sense now looking at it. At least I'm proud of...
Here's the bag, not diy but using what I had:
Here are my throw bags. I saw the idea somewhere very early on in my learning about tree climbing. My first throw weight was a golf ball with an eye screw in it... Too light.
I think I made the center one first. Climb spec 2" tubular webbing...
@Tom Dunlap I think they are talking about the additives already present in the sawdust since it's coming from cutting mdf and not straight wood.

So weird, I have exactly the opposite experience of a lot of you guys. I have the 1.75 zing-it and it's still my go to. I bought the 2.2 Notch Acculine and have had really mixed feelings about it. The first several times I tried to use it I ended up in crazy tangles... like the coating is a...
I think it's just meant so you can sit in it when you're sitting/hanging, but you can work/climb as with a separate leg style one. I've often thought of making something like this on my own - sit in it for comfort when i'm sitting/hanging - but ultimately the life support comes from the harness...
@misfit Petzl makes a seat to be used with some of their harnesses, and The Notch Sentry models seem to be a bosun seat with some small straps to keep you in it.
I'm mostly interested in the fancier harnesses because I feel like it gives me more flexibility to monkey around in the tree, and do...
Thanks for the input @misfit and @Crimsonking~
There's no way to get that waist belt lower and over my pants and belt unless I up a size. Leg loops behind my knee is never going to happen with those elastic things. I wondered about how loose they should be, because i figure if you're sitting in...
Hello Buzzards! I'm a long time listener, first time caller~
I'll save the long winded introduction and back-story for another time - this post will probably be long winded enough without it.
So briefly, I'm Dumpy, and welcome to my dumpster fire. I'm an engineer by trade, rec climber for...
