Yup I agree. I just didn't know was going on at that co......so I didn't want to speculate either for the climber or owners fault in the wake of this major tragedy! So sad.....
Peder-d what are the regulations in Denmark regarding hoisting a climber? (if I remember right it's illegal there?) I couldn't imagine climbing some of the structural nightmare trees I remove with cranes. THAT'S WHY THEY ARE BEING REMOVED......they are hazards! You will have to convince the...
Uuuuuhm, back to the 150T. This is the most exciting saw to me in a decade or 2. Bought one a week or so after Treevet. Modded it the day I got it (ran decent but modds really helped) its been very reliable, fun to run, so precise for pruning (I've made bore cuts starting with the top tip of the...
I'm a huge fan of Mattheck's but i think the term he used "Chinese beard" should be substituted with a more professional term. Maybe it was just the way it translated. Have always loved Claus' books, research, great speaker too.
First....THOUGHTS, PRAYERS, AND CONDOLENCES to this kids friends and relatives. Second.....it appears a simple friction saver prussik (or some kind of second tie in like Daniel mentioned) may very well have saved him. BAD JUDGEMENT somewhere along the line seems to be the cause of most accidents...
Yeah I work in steep driveways all the time without cribbing under the lower axles of the truck......but I wouldn't do this on other cranes. It also helps to bring the radius in as much as possible (the extensions move so fast this only takes a couple seconds more per pick) to reduce side...
This saw should probably be used for pruning only.......but WHOA IT IS SO LIGHT!.......like five and a half pounds light.......like it makes you want to take up chain saw juggling light:) ( I know Treevet posted about this saw somewhere and he was dead on ) Fun saw to run......now just need to...
For just the right job a man basket on a big kboom can be priceless. Imagine having a bucket truck with: 130' of side reach, 17 extensions, and 3 knuckles!!! The articulating fly jib is amazing in its ability to fit into tight spaces in canopies (just like when snatching picks during crane...
To me Arborwear Canopy Pants are clearly the cats pajamas! Very durable, not hot like the knees on the ascender pants (my overall fav pants), they don't show oil stains, etc.
Re: 40\'+ telescopic poles
I've been using these since '93. The telescopic fiberglass ones can easily be handled by one person. Saw a lineman using these on a project I worked on and jumped on the bandwagon. Made extensions out of a fishing pole to get more reach (but then you lose accuracy )...
