Hey guys,
First of all thanks for the feedback help. It turned out be relief valve related. The spring in there was shot. So replaced the innards of that valve, and then hooked up to a pressure gauge and reset pressures.
I ended up calling my dealer A Lewis Bandit, in Middlesex, VT who I...
1997 Bandit 150.
Infeed is eating brush like a turd. 4000hrs plus. Can only handle 2-3 inch material.
Can you help me trouble shoot. I feel like I am up to speed maintinence wise...
Are my hyd motors bad? How do I test them?
Thanks
How old are those trees? Looks like a huge plantation. The block over has been recently harvested, is that the plan for the trees you were climbing?
Thanks for sharing
At that size, there could be anywhere from 150-300 stems per acre. We are talking maybe 1500 trees total. That is a lot of trees for one person to tip on the weekends.
I run a tree biz in the warmer months and have logged for the past 4 winters. I am not the best, but getting better. I have...
It would be a stretch if you have a full time job.
Without knowing stems per acre and average diameter, it is really hard to even ballpark. Pictures?
If not cut to length, then what? There is no way that it simply cannot matter how the wood is laid out.
It sounds easy until you are neck deep...
Just fell? You mean show up and make a ten acre mess? Sign me up.
Cut to length? Cut for a skidder, forwarder, tracked chipper, grapple skidder, grinder etc? Whats the terrain? Is there an understory?
Are there houses, roads, powerlines, yards. Old hedgerow trees...etc.
All of these...
Can anyone comment on their experiences with a gas vs diesel chip truck. Currently I have a Ford F350 with a 7.3 powerstroke diesel. Unfortunatly this truck is rotting to pieces. I am looking at other Fords with their V10 Gas motor.
I pull a Bandit 150, and a trailer sometimes. Up and down a...
What I really really did not like was the brush and wood falling close to your ground guy who had his back turned feeding the chipper.
That is b.s. I would quit working for someone if they did that more than 1 time by accident. But there was no visual communication between you and your...
BBB,

I find it an excellent tool to run up into a tree to enter, then to easily advance ones tie in point. Once destination is reached i tie a running bowline with a pull down line attached via double fisher mans to the the tail of the bowline.
We all have different trust thresholds. I trust this...
I use a STEEL biner all the time in a choked config. especially climbing srt. makes advancing your tie in point easier... I have never even gave it a second thought. Rated at 30 kN, maybe someone can tell me differently...
Bix,
This is a sugar maple log. I have a slabbing attatchment for my lucas mill. I am learning... you can see I need to work on my chain angles as well. But if you get em right then the cut will be sooo smooth it can be finished with a sander
It is amazing how much lumber will come out of one log! Truly. Most people do not understand... I have been spending my evenings trying to get my Lucas Mill dialed in. It has been a trying few months, but I think I finally got it.
I slabbed out this sugar maple tonight. Bout 32 inches at the...
Tom,
I am not really that into log homes but, may I say: A log home can be built with a drawknife and an axe, if you want to get hardcore.
Think of how many times you handle a piece of wood from stump to finished product if you are stick framing. I lived in a cabin I built with a band...
