    Rigging rings as snatch blocks

Rings can take a beating and have low friction for sure. I see no scenario where efficiency wise they would be superior to a pulley in a snatch block situation other then protection from possible struck by damage.

    Danner boots for climbing

I haven't had any issues. I feel like I'm one of the rare people that actually take care of my boots though. Id say every other month I give them a good coating of Obenauf's leather oil and I always coat the toes with Tuff Toe right out of the box. Seems to help longevity greatly.

    Danner boots for climbing

I have climbed on danner boots in the past. I used the Danner Vicious 4.5 NMT climbing without spikes for a few years and they were great. Nice and light yet offered a lot of support and grip. I also wore Danner Loggers for a couple years for ground work and on spikes. Ended up getting a pair of...

Appreciate the heads up! Wesspur sent me an email really quick regarding the inspection notice. I have 4 of them little suckers so I made sure to go through them all right away.

    Protos mesh visor

Id recommend ordering one from Arbsession. They have the arbsession smiley painted on one (fine mesh) in stock, the regular fine mesh is out of stock. Arbsession gets stuff down here to Iowa pretty quick. I order most of my gear from them or wesspur usually.

Don’t really have a set amount. Was just hoping to not dump full price on something until I find out if he’s going to stick to it.

Frustrating things people do on a job......

My biggest gripes are ground guys not keeping the ropes free of branches and debris when climbing. A close second would be guys leaving the side box doors open on the bucket truck open. Im not a huge fan of advertising all of the equipment actually in the truck.

    Ring on bridge?

Ive been using the Omniblock mini 1.1" on my bridge for years. I replace it every three years and replace my bridge every 6 months even though it never shows that much wear. I wouldn't consider going back to anything else honestly.

New Tribe Onyx Saddle discussion in light of the newest saddle releases

    Large helmet options

I have a large head and I have always worn a kask super plasma with no issues. I know that they also make a extension clip for the Protos now as well for people with larger heads.

    Saddle Ergonomics

As a big climber (3oo lbs). I have been using an onyx for quite a while as I would have had to have the treemotion maxed out. The onyx has basically no padding and is super comfortable once adjusted right. The new treemotion with the larger size range has my attention but I honestly have never...

Any Advice For My First Year In Business?

I found a few key things that I feel really makes us stand out in our area. For starters we bid everything in person, no bids over the phone or with pictures or whatever. I like to give people a realistic time frame no matter how far out we are scheduled. Very thorough clean up every time. Even...

Tree Company Owners that aren't tree guys...

At the end of the day.. YOU decide where your values lay. Even though you didn't agree with the situation, or the improper work that they wanted to perform, you performed it anyway. It's only one job at the end of the day, if nothing else you gained an experience. Enjoy that pork chop!

Dealing with different types of people in business

After a while you get to a point where you can read what kind of person you're dealing with pretty quick. If they have two or three projects and want a break down I'm willing to do that. Any more then that and I tell them that we will just charge a day rate and go from there. I always put a...
