Thanks
I can't remember why I switched saws....it was probably 5 months ago.
The log stood at about 140 or there abouts after I topped it. There was not the time nor money on the job to start sawing and rigging lots of separate logs. And, big logs are millabe, small logs are only good for...
Using the center D for the second flip line is nice because it advances as one with the first flipline, but drops out of the way when your cutting. It's also better in a fall/arrest situation, should you gaff out.
When you girth your climbline to one side, I generally put the carabiner through...
If you're not limb walking not rigging the tree, then this is the way to go....although I personally set the second flipline to the Centre D.....prevents the clutter, and the climbline on my back, or bagged up even. Pre- setting lines seems pointless. You can otherwise be half way up the tree...
Bob, I think August has put in a huge effort to help make this saddle to be the best it can be, from his own standpoint of what makes a good saddle. Not every climber will agree with the design features, but it's a choice whether or not purchase. Regardless, I think there can be no doubt that if...
I don't think it'd be very practical, nor lawful in and around houses. People blast rocks here all the time, but that's drilled deep underground first. Arial stuff is different....you need quite the exclusion zone. Some vid here from 2 years back, same site.
Thanks.
The guy with the camera was just there to help, tie saws on, free my rope, whatever. I told him beforehand to make sure the camera was resting on something to avoid getting a shake. Only a little camera I've had for years. He did a good job.
Been up at Cathedral Grove, couple of miles up island, helping out another company. Mainly hazard tree work....topping, falling blasting etc. I was just there for the climbing.
Some pics from a dead fir. Had to resize to low res for the forum, so not so clear. Tree was probably 220ft. Left it...
I did speak to Mark at length this morning on the phone, and we've decided to work together to produce a more objective discussion of sorts. Most likely it will surface on the treemagineers blog, just as soon as we both have time. So, keep an eye on that one. Thanks
Justin. The videos are gone, same as Marks blog posts have been replaced: http://www.treemagineers.com/blog/we-can-do-better/ and today's a new day. If yesterday's news got people talking and considering the wisdom of their own work ethic, then great. The fact that 2 people with opposing...
I did hear from Mark today, and we agree that stuff is creating a pretty negative vibe, that not much good will come of. So, I'll delete the videos and sort out our differences. Sorry for all the fuss
No, I don't always do it that way. If it wasn't the fact that I wanted to set the camera up top, then I'd have just stripped it all out from 2 flip lines. I did strip the bottom third of branches that way first, but that was not on the video. it ended up taking me just a few mins from that point...
