Got one along these lines (no pic right now but if I remember I'll take one at work tomorrow):
When you tear the foil off start at the back and leave it attached about 25% at the front, every pour it'll act like a built in funnel as well as stopping the drips from going down the side of the...
Best in the business is Richard at Mountain light bars but be prepared for a bit of sticker shock. You can not buy a better bar though if quality is worth it to you.
Im mostly interested if they've widened the "sweet spot" any to make it actually usable for working. With the version 2 it was a 2-hander, couldn't modulate the handle alone well enough for safe one hand lowering.
I can tell from the photos I've seen the sit back will be the same as the 2 (a...
There's a guy on IG that just posted a DIY version made from 2 handled ascenders.
Think he might be a member here, @metaspencer am I right you're the guy from IG?
Only use mine for 1 purpose, when I'm climbing with my hand saw strapped to my leg I clip the removable buckle clip (with accessory biner) there so I don't loose it.
Firefighters / rescue use the wheels themselves. Run a HD loop runner through one of them (with chafe sleeve if possible) then use metal HW to connect to that.
Guys this is a great saddle! I use one every day at work. Other than the sewn leg risers it's as adjustable as any of the big name saddles and (I came from a Sequoia) MORE COMFY!
It'd make a great saddle for someone with a small tree service needing a second setup for a part time climber, since...
A deadeye is really what you want for something like a safeblock or triple thimble, that way you can leave the rope in it and just untie your cow to move it. If you had it in a woopie/loopie/ultrasling you'd have to take the rope all the way out every time.
I just bought from DH Friday, great...
My first though is inline with @Jzack605. It's simple geometry; increase the horizontal angle of attack and the vertical rate of decent decreases proportionally.
Not that a ground guy is gonna have the time to grab the line and run away from the base of the tree, but technically it's a workable...
Climbed the outside of this parking garage (Google Street view pic). Climbed up the colored parts but then, since you can get to that top by simply driving and thus being there wasn't very impressive I climbed up on top of the far right part. This was middle of the day with traffic whizzing by...
What do you mean by "with 8 ft sling or longer"? How much longer can it come? I can splice up my own ultrasling if it's enough to do so.
I'm interested BTW, not just asking for the hell of it.
It wouldn't be up to me to allow / disallow it but if the boss man was ok with it personally I'd give the motivated kid like yourself our extra sena while he was standing around (back away from the work and safe).
It's probably less about his states dept of labor and more about any reputable tree companies insurance regs.
Have you tried just showing up at a tree companies shop 7am one morning and asking in person if you could shadow them for the day? DO NOT offer to help or assist in any way, just...
I'm not downplaying the HIAX, they're great boots (as long as you don't have wide feet) but they're made for chainsaw protection first and foremost. Sure they're made for our line of work but their number one design spec was saw protection not comfort while on spikes, and it's the saw protection...
In your scenerio you're overlooking friction completely. Even on the best pully there's still some additional friction. Even if you had a theoretically perfect pully that really did add no extra friction just simply bending the rope 180° adds friction.
The tie in point is contributing a good...
