when to use tree risk assessment form

I’m pretty sure not being TRAQ’d filling out that form will hurt you more than help if it came to court. That form and procedure is designed for individuals who are trained in that process. It’s a funny thing because an experienced arborist is trained at a level 1 and probably even a level 2...

    Beech Leaf Disease

I’m a little perplexed by the phosphite programs. Daveys research data is promising, although it was only done on small diameter trees (I think 7”?) and as far as I know those products don’t treat the nematodes themselves. You need ALOT of water to properly apply these products to the soil, so...

Hidden, once thought extinct, grove of trees found

Yeah I’d imagine I’d start with an acclimation process in a pot. There’s a few China fir around here too but definitely rare, mostly just found in arboretum.

Hidden, once thought extinct, grove of trees found

Yeah I’m skeptical they’d do well here in 7. We can get cold snaps that get below the teens for weeks. I still would like to try.

Hidden, once thought extinct, grove of trees found

Interesting. The trickier part is tracking one down. Every now and then I go down the rabbit hole.

Property owner saying "NO" really irritates me

You gotta let it go man. I used to do a ton of side work. I know this can be a touchy subject but sometimes ya just gotta pay the bills and often one of these jobs was equal or more than my regular pay check. I would propose work to clients but it was pretty common to be limited on what they...

Still standing strong and healthy after six years

I love watching these kind of case studies and purposely check in on trees like this. My bet unfortunately is that it’s on its way out and it’s just a slow process. There was a black locust in my town that had one branch and only a few leaves. It was full exposure on the bay, broke in half in a...

OK to remove BIG limb from pin oak?

    Fair enough! I respect this.

OK to remove BIG limb from pin oak?

Sure, but a rec climb you’re taking the cutting aspect out of the picture. In my opinion that makes it drastically safer, and I’d put money on it being statistically safer as well. What happens when an accident occurs doing work for free?
