Quote and estimate I agree with your interpretation, to me there is no room for argument by the definition of the words. A bid or proposal is more ambiguous I would stay away from those personally.
Agreed RBJ, I have some pretty strange opinions and beliefs, one of the most relevant is that I look on most suburban dwellers and lifestyles with much disdain, which probably make up 80- 90% of our clients. Really I don't like mot people in general but you got to serve someone!
I am constantly...
We call it a price quote. Never had a signed contract in 4 years, always gotten paid. Told one lady with a year old quote that it was no longer valid, which it says on the quote but she was super pissed anyways. She wrote a nasty review but luckily it was on a random platform no one uses. Once a...
Sounds like paying for protection money, no thanks. I could be wrong but I don't think I've had anyone who would do things like that in my professional orbit, thankfully.
In my mind the crane co should take a loss and do the job for what they quoted. Sounds like op is stuck between 2 shitty...
Forestry buckets are not meant to be extended to the point that the truck suspension is lifted. Most of the stability comes from the chassis. As others have said it's not uncommon to see them lift up a bit.
Okay, but I'd be surprised if you asked all the people you mentioned what is their identity and who they are they'd all say "tree climber" maybe but I doubt it.
I'm just pointing out that not everyone learns at the same pace, some try really hard for a long time and never become as good as...
I've known some great climbers who did not identify with the work, it is possible. Not all people need to spend their time off trying to improve. Skills and knowledge come easier to some while others try really hard and never get to be as good as the natural.
That is a good idea in theory but realistically I think you'd have a hard time finding clients and staying busy in that. A lot of people doing the same or similar from tree stuff rent a trainer to tcia. Might be tough going.
You mentioned mechanical work as a turn off to self employ, I get...
A good bit of successful magnum grinding time is prep work. Maybe even half the time on some stumps, is spent clearing away dirt and rocks. Kind of like a post mortem rcx, I learned a lot about trees by doing this and the act of grinding with the AM itself, it's an intimate up close experience.
The thing is tough as nails though, once a gust of wind caught the "wing" debris guard as I was driving down the road 30 or 40 mph, it flew out and landed on the road, no damage whatsoever.
I feel I was pretty good with the Alpine at the end of our ownership, could rip some stumps. It earned back the 5k it cost quickly, 3120 power head. One thing I never got over was the exhaust, it's terrible. I used a mask for awhile but that was no good either on a hot day not a pleasant task by...
Well, it's all speculative in this case, but like I said, better be damn good excuse, that's just me though. Low blood sugar? Poor excuse in my book. What if he'd been pressured by someone else to do it? Seriously? Someone told him he might get fired so he freaked out and cut someone's lifeline...
