Two piles from the job Thursday.
A long climb to remove two dead limbs from this pine early this morning. Limbs are on the ground, dots are where they were.
I learned recently that the house I built from the ground up in the early '70s was torn down to make way for apartments early this...
Removed a dead cedar leaning against a pine over a very rickety fence..
Got a TIP in the pine, removed limbs from the cedar as I went up, dropped the top in the neighbor's yard, attached a pull rope, then felled the cedar. I also removed several unwanted limbs from the pine, and got rid of...
I climbed the lightening-damaged oak tree today to remove a smallish dead limb that was hanging over the street.
A quick job that gave me a chance to take pics of the continuing bark peel.
Looks awful, but overall it's still a beautiful tree.
Two recent projects. First is removal of three unwanted limbs from a leaner.
Second is removal of hanging broken limb.
It's actually getting a little more comfortable to work now.
Debby left two broken limbs about seventy feet up in a tree in my own yard.
Cutting them into pieces as I climbed worked really well.
That ugly little Kobalt 5" saw is getting a workout. I still carry a razor saw incase it gets pinched, but so far so good. I've even made a lanyard for it.
The client took some pics of me the first time I climbed the big pine. First on the way up...
and then closer to the top. You can see the two limbs on the far side of the tree that I got down on the later climb.
I was up in the other side of the big pine this morning to get two limbs...one broken and hanging, the other lodged on other limbs. I cut them into pieces with the little chainsaw on the way up.
I like it when I can really see an improvement.
And all this stuff on the ground.
Got it all in one climb. It helped that the temperature was in the low 70s with the RH at 85%. Not sure what to do with the half rotted broken lead with all the suckers on it near the base of the tree.
I took a week off the devine project hoping the HO and his live-in son-in-law would use their small Mahindra tractor and trailer to haul debris up the hill to the curb. Didn't happen. Oh, well....it's all exercise. First the big stuff I'd cut up...eight trips with the wheelbarrow.
Then the...
After studying the limb with the spotting scope, I decided against climbing below it. It appeared to be hanging by a thread at the break and supported by a little branch stub resting on a lower limb.
It was easy enough to get a light line cinched around it to pull it down clear of the fence...
Haven't been in one this big in a while. Three feet DBH with four broken limbs hanging along with several dead limbs and a bonus hanger way up and way out. They want to get it cleaned up before repairing the fence which got pushed part way over by Debby. I got two hanging limbs and several...
Another broken limb courtesy of Debby. This one was over a fence, a sego palm, and some other stuff.
After securing it, I cut and tossed some pieces so the rest would fit the available space.
There was nothing else on the limb, so I cut it below the break, and then cut the remaining piece off...
It took two climbs, but this one's looking better, too. I'm gonna make another climb to use the long-handled shears to clean up some stuff that doesn't show in the pics.
Well, that was worth the extra climb.
I'm anxious to see what TS Debby brings our way.
Climate change has really affected our insects. The aggressive paper wasps that plagued us have been gone for two years. They've been replaced by a smaller variety that's not aggressive at all. The carpenter bees that used to hang around all summer destroying wood siding and trim pass through...
Made a rare evening climb on this gum getting rid of suckers and vines.
Almost all the remaining vines are hanging from the overgrown sucker on the left of the trunk. I'll make a climb with the chainsaw to get it and some other large suckers.
I decided to stay clear of the treacherous sand-fill and work on this tree surrounded by grass.
Before......................................................................... After
There's a bunch on the ground, but it's just a fraction of the stuff I couldn't get to for lack of a decent TIP...
