No, I started in ‘95 the 020 av was the saw to have.
My Dad had a little yellow Partner top handle with a push oiler.
By that time I think the US makes had become homeowner stuff.
I guess, if you want to ‘push limits’ for whatever reason.
I think if I have a point, it’s that discussing hinge dynamics and all that is a bit superfluous if there’s a 100hp plus tracked loader telling it what to do.
It seems to me the skill level needed to fell trees in the desired direction with a rope and a machine pull is miniscule in comparison to doing it from the bottom with wedges etc.
Speaking as a rope and machine sort of guy.
Cons: Heavy.
Pros: Good power, easily my favourite TD saw, I bought the ground saw equivalent for my employee so with the coms as well we’re very calm.
I had the 536 before, not enough guts for the bigger stuff, this is fine.
The weight means you have to be very deliberate about stowing it...
@Suuz
It’s not for everyone.
There’s plenty of other work with trees apart from climbing up them and cutting bits off.
It is good to be encouraging and positive but the odds (and time) are against you.
Being a good ground worker, running ropes and operating machinery like loaders and grinders...
Got mine a few weeks ago, along with the ground saw.
The topper is heavy, but my go to dismantling saw at the moment.
Ill give my thoughts later, got to go to work.
FTR I have nothing against Giant, I wanted one before I started on the Multione/Avant road, but there was too much of a delay in production.
My approval of your purchase is mostly based on the premise that it reinforces my decision (a popular sentiment on the internet)
Good luck and congratulations.
