Call volume is very low but we have been staying booked out at least a few weeks thanks to some big jobs and repeat clients. Still very disconcerting since we went up to two crews this year. At times it feels like we are buried and are going to be very busy. Other times it feels a bit scary.

@JontreeHI also known as Jon Matych died yesterday in a logging accident in Michigan. Apparently a snag fell and hit him killing him instantly. He is survived by his parents, his wife Zoe, and their three kids.
I worked with Jon Matych on many job sites and always appreciated who and how...
I rent yard space at a lot that a local brewery owns. We have flat gravel for the parking for the trucks and for the employees. We also have a 40 foot shipping container for storing all the tools and toys.
Yup, that was a fun tree. It was one of the craziest trees of my career that also kind of boring because of how smoothly the job went. Having a huge budget because it was covered by insurance certainly helped. I brought in 2 top level contract climbers and another tree service to assist...
This is the most exciting piece of gear I’ve seen in years. I’ve always been an ART fan. Get ready to buy all my shiny stuff on Treebay so I can buy one!
Now that I’ve seen the pictures I’ve got a totally different idea of how to do it. Even if you have low ground anchors I think using a grip hoist winch or power puller to a guy rope or two could get a lot of pressure off the supporting tree.

With this species when they are hung up where there is a target, my methodology is almost always to secure the tree with multiple lowerable rigging points, climb up and get rid of as much weight as possible, and then either bring it down in pieces or start taking weight off the butt. It...
The company I contracted for on the project had 3 GRCS units, I had one, and we borrowed another from another contract climber. Currently I own 2 and can’t see buying more. Learning to use a GRCS to tension ropes and load them onto Portawraps is a very useful skill for projects like this when...
I did one a few years ago that was an absolute monster. We had 5 GRCS units to guy and rig down the tree. Tree was in yard A. Leaning towards garage/office in yard B. Brush left the property out yard C. I took two days to get it rigged and got it down to the contact point. Robert Bundy...
