    2023 Contract Climber Rates?

I paid my former boss monthly for a few years for his customer list, and rented his chipper for awhile. Yes, later I got loans from banks to get additional equipment using my good credit from paying my bills and not over extending myself...and then collateral of stuff I had already paid off

Even if one starts from something Generational Wealth: Why do 70% of Families Lose Their Wealth in the 2nd Generation? "If all it took was knowledge to become wealthy, then most business people, professors, financial planners and others would be very wealthy. The reason they’re not is because...

    2023 Contract Climber Rates?

Do you know I came from something? Do you know my background? I've worked since I been in high school...started out at Mcdonalds. I paid my own way through 2 year college with the help of student loans (which I paid off myself as it should be). I bought my employer's tree business and paid him...

    2023 Contract Climber Rates?

I somewhat agree with you, but have a few questions and statements. As an owner of a tree business, or any business that has high cost equipment, I think I would want some kind of employee buy in to be used towards these costs in a model like you mentioned (or b corp etc). If i am the only one...

    2023 Contract Climber Rates?

I'd be curious on how the expenses and startup risks are shared in a b Corp etc. How does training costs get handled, for first "employees" of the company. Who makes the decision about the direction of the company, majority vote? Is getting a few stock options getting something profitable in the...

    Grapple, grapple saw, hydraulic connections?

It is a switch for sure for me. It was something I figured I would do in the long term timeframe, go more crane subbing, ever since I got the truck. But it ended up happening soon and faster than I thought, mostly due to bartlett being interested in us and them wanting trimming operations (with...

    Grapple, grapple saw, hydraulic connections?

My saw is on a mount above my mats. It is definitely not ideal, due to having to climb up there to attach/deattach it. But it was the best solution I could come up with, that did not take away from container space. So that kind of goes a long with the biggest disadvantage of a hooklift (imo)...

    Grapple, grapple saw, hydraulic connections?

So the only saw I've had for the last 4 years is the 160. I ended up putting a 20" cutting bar on it...actual full length is 23". I've found that 20-22" is the most I can safely hold with the 160 (grapple opening wise). It cuts fairly well with this bar, obviously flower than stick (like a...

    2023 Contract Climber Rates?

No. The most I've paid is 600, for 2 different contract climber who are at the top of the industry and have +10 years of experience...one of who I trained. One job I had them both one at the same time. Both would stay until the job was finished and do any aspect of the job, at least for me. I...

    2023 Contract Climber Rates?

Where it gets tricky is there are methods that are faster and easier for the climber, and methods that are faster and easier for the crew, and lastly methods that are faster and easier (efficient) for the entire job. A good climber, or contract climber, will do the last option...but I've seen a...

    2023 Contract Climber Rates?

Well technically any time they work they get a 8...simce there is no 4,6,7 etc. even if that is all they worked. I agree they all might not work a full 5 days a week and full 50 weeks...but the ones I know stay really busy.

    2023 Contract Climber Rates?

I personally never said it was price gouging, per say. What I did say is that the price is extremely high for such little overhead and sales effort/work...at least for my area of operation. To pay Derrick Martin 600-700 for a day's work was pushing it for me...and he is a good friend. There were...

    2023 Contract Climber Rates?

I should say even on that 110t crane job, without the crane we would have probably been there 3-4 days to get out all the debris and wood...if it was even possible to do it safely without damage. So even there I did not really lose money, because I made 500 more in that day than a normal dag...

    2023 Contract Climber Rates?

So on a big 110t crane I kinda agree with you. I only did one job with a crane that size, had no real choice due to the tree and location. The crane had a 8 hour min, and was done with it by lunch. It cost me around 6k for the crane, and had to pay on the spot. My take on the job was about 2k...

    2023 Contract Climber Rates?

Yes, but that is all overhead a tree company (or crane company) has on top of heavy equipment costs and higher fuel volumes. As to my pricing, I just sold my business to bartlett tree. My man hour pricing and man hours per job were right on par with theirs for our area. As to my crane prices...

    2023 Contract Climber Rates?

I am glad to see you been on the buzz since 2008. So you are not just a 2-3 year climber with no other tree experience calling yourself a contract climber at the top of your game. I agree, a skill set is worth money. Just saying running a crane, or running a profitable business is also a high...

    2023 Contract Climber Rates?

$150 per hour is $45 less per hour than my grapple saw crane (also four hour min). A crane that costs $450k. What exactly are your expenses to justify charging almost as much as a crane per hour. Never fully understood this aspect, as far as contract climbers. The top contract climber in my...

    Cribbing wedge

Currently I just took a treated 3 foot 6x6 and angled through it, for my knuckleboom. @steve.connally has composite plastic wedges and cribbing. I'm hoping to upgrade to them soon.

    Cribbing for loaders/trucks

Leveling a side sloped for 20-100' ...for me personally I'd be doing it manually. By the time you set up that cribbing, and extra equipment to haul it etc one could most likely just climb the tree and remove the debris by hand. I agree, I think I would want that bolted together.
