    where's all the support

Re: where\'s all the support Do you really think i'm Costarican writing such fluent english? I am talking about Santa Barbara and the Channel Islands that neighbor our coast. And yes there is a legit 300' Euc. on the Islands. We also have a Citriadora here on the mainland that is at least 170'...

Re: where\'s all the support Sorry East Coasters, I know ya'll have big trees, however, let's see you come out here and climb some of our 125' plus Eucs. Some species much harder than others and without Gaff's. We have one that is over 170' tall and another on one of our islands that is a...

    SRT POLL

Fellow Gear Heads, I must say that it really sucks that many of you had the opportunity to use a Unicender years before myself! Tom! Thank you so much for what you have done for me, I will never be able to repay you!!! The Uni rocks! The only bad thing I can say is it would be better with a...

    SRT POLL

To all SRT heads! I know for a fact that there are certain trees I have climbed recently with SRT that no one could master in a Ddrt situation. I blew three lines in from the ground and initiated my spiderweb, from there, it was butter! Now way one could achieve the same goal Ddrt in the time...

    Installing SB in palm trees

In washingtonia robustas blak widow has worked very well. Every other palm can be ascended with normal climb line. I prefer Static line, just blow your throwline dead center and your good to go! X-Man O.G.

    UNICENDER CERTIFICATION

Re: UNICENDER CERTIFICATION Now in the ITCC regs. are you allowed to do the work climb SRT? I see nothing in the rules that say you must climb double line and not single line if the SRT system used qualifies. Nobody has done it, and why not? As long as you use the same anchor point as all the...

    Input on splices

If you end up with a frog or extra slack from the cover, DUDE! Something did not go right and I certainly would not climb on that splice. Splicing takes a lot of patience, milking, and massaging. Practice makes you live another day. Cut the line at the point of the crossover and try it again...

    WHO MAKES THE RULES???

Now who qualifies or instructs these judges. Who researches and makes the call if a new technique passes, and by what standards does it have to meet. What if it is a new system that is totally legit as far as the standards go, and someone is not up to par seeing as our industry/ climbing...

    WHO MAKES THE RULES???

good question, when new innovations and techniques are presented, like the advanced friction hitches or a variation of one, or a new splicing technique that no has ever seen but is fully tested and legit. how can one person or persons who are not quite on top of the industry make the call about...

    No impact tree removal!!

No matter what, you will always have some kind of impact when you remove a huge mastadon tree in any developed property. Now, it can be minimized by the right rigging procedures, gear, or heavy equipment, of of which have to be carefully considered by the estimator/ owner. Sometimes...

Limbwalking: RADS-Petzl Rig and Shunt (video)

I still think using the RIG for positioning and when calculated limb walk come into play you throw in the hand ascender with a pulley knowing that you will come back to it. Certainly, this method is way more efficient than the video I just saw... Easy on, easy off, and you are using one of the...

    where's all the support

Re: where\'s all the support Hey treeman 805, Uhhh, take a quick look at some of the other chapters itcc finalists and you tell me. Besides that the WCC is composed of four states, three of which are way bigger that some of the other little chapters east of us. Not to mention at any...

Using single line technique for more than ascent

Treeman 805, Now has anyone actually done testing on climbing SRT and with what kinds of cordage/ angles/ shock loads, etc.? No matter if you are climbing SRT or Double line, you don't want to fall! I personally think there is less TIP load with a static line and smooth ascent/ climbing...

    where's all the support

Re: where\'s all the support I agree, how come Jared has no coverage. What does it take for the world champ to get his props. The Western Chapter is probably one of the hardest chapters to win. we have at least 9 climbers that could win the comp. any year. X-man p.s. suck my ?

    Silky no more?

Hey buzzers, So I recently heard through the graped-vine that Sherrill bought the distributions right for silky and my local saw shop can't get them anymore through their normal supplier. I am not sure if this is true but, If so, replacement blades will take longer to stock and cost more. And...

I bought a Petzl Rig today....

Hey Guys, Keep in mind that the Cinch blows apart with a fall from 4 feet. The GRI-GRI is capable of around 12 to 14 if my memory serves me right. The RIG is far superior. Now are you guys climbing Ddrt or Srt? Never the less no one (SHOULD) have more than four feet of slack, but a two foot...

Using single line technique for more than ascent

Great point Tom , even if his line was anchored to the base of the tree you could set a base sling and transfer him over to lower the injured climber down. With DDrt, you need to ascend to the injured climber and then bring him down, which takes more time... X-man O.G.
