Sterling had some cool new arb stuff out. Great bunch of people there. Ed was doing all kinds of demos.
Anyway, the rope was cool. It looked static, but it has a soft feel and seems like it'd make a good line. The thing that I don't like is it can't be spliced. I don't like the stitching stuff...
Hey guys, decided I'm going to stay up north here and work until the crane seminar rolls around, so I'm looking for anyone who needs help with all this storm work. I'm a great groundman, and a decent climber, so PM me or email me if you're looking for help.
rangerdanger@insightbb.com
Thanks!
I'll know more in a few days, but I'll probably keep my spot. Gonna talk to some folks at TCI, make some phone calls, and hopefully stay in the northeast working until the seminar rolls around.
Anyone up in the northeast looking for help? lol
TreeStuff can hook u up with Vortex, he just can't sell it until after the expo, when samson officially releases it.
OD is Ocean Dynemma, a lot like OP, but with a dynemma core. Knot and Rope Supply carries it, but its not on their site. Awesome stuff.
Hey arborcare, its all about personal preference really. I love climbing on Vortex and Rocket, both are excellent ropes I think for both SRT and DdRT, but my preference is Vortex now. If you want a larger diameter line, and don't mind the extra weight, go for Vortex. If you like the skinnier...
Vortex is some awesome stuff for wrenching on man. Its not static, and its main idea is its a larger diameter velocity, but the thing is, they decreased the stretch in it, so its not as stretcy as velocity. Looks at the 11.7mm velocity thread, last page you'll find a link or two showing...
Re: salami cut aka \"lawn dart technique\"
I use this cut a lot, but like others have said, the two biggest things are have a sharp chain and restrict its use to smaller pieces. And be sure to commit to it when u start it, otherwise, like others have stated, if you back off, bad juju can happen.
Stick with Morbark man. Don't have much experience with those two models, but we've had a Morbark Model 17 since 1994 and its still going strong. Nothing but great things to say about Morbark!
This stuff is awesome man! Got a 200ft hank by luck and being in the right place at the right time and I've been climbing on it for a few days now. Loving it. I SRT pretty much everything now and I'm loving it on this rope. Love having that larger rope to grab onto, has made climbing SRT that...
I agree with Tom D. "dragging brush" can mean various things, but I take it as an apprenticeship of sorts, much like other crafts. Basically, you do ground work, watching and observing the climber as you work to try and pick up on techniques and ideas. During this time, you learn the basic...
I'm with Kevin, I like to keep it old school and just have the rope, hitch, and rope wrench. I have a system set up like Kevin describes where I can footlock up on my wrench/hitch set up, where its extended out so its my fl prussic. Use my lanyard as the tether, and fl up. Fast, simple easy, and...
Looking good man!! Can't wait!!
One last call for a roommate, or floor to sleep on. Don't mind sleeping on a floor at all. Would much prefer that than spending the cash on a room by myself.
I would experiment and see what works best for you. The VT knot is so personal I think it just takes low and slow experimentation to find what rights for you.
