Haven't been to many man. I'm not an ISA member yet, and don't plan to be any time soon right now. Only events I've really attended are comps. But overall, no, I haven't seen too many inclusions of prayer in those.
Religion should never enter an ISA event, whether it offends people or not, ISA is an organization about trees, an international organization at that, with people of all faiths and cultures part of its ranks. When people start to lumb religion in with it, be it because of peer pressure, or ones...

The full workshop is good. Dad and I went to one in TN, think it was an 8 hour workshop. Very in depth about soil and trees in the urban environment. Lots of cool, good ideas presented and talked about, and the science behind it all. Jim's a good presenter, enjoyed the workshop as a whole.

I liked the CMI Twin Exp when I foot locked doubled rope. The single handle is actually a lot better for foot locking, the other ascenders were more of a pain for me, not as stream lined and harder on my wrists. I see Viking already posted the review I did on them, thanks man!
I've tried the Wrench with a SportJack/LockJack when I worked in Central Park. Another climber there was rocking it DdRT with the ART Rope Guide and we thought we'd give it a whirl. I found it didn't engage and hold your weight unless the wrench was fully engaged. Also, all the benefits of slack...

Basal ties are as safe as you make them. I use a basal tie 80% of the time right now and feel perfectly safe. I work with my Dad and one other guy and I've gone over with them numerous times about my basal anchor and they know to stay away from it. No one goes near it with a...
