Were you not using helmet comms? Not trying to be a dick, its just crazy how many ways the helmet comms can help prevent incidents.
You said you yelled, sometimes when chipping it is still hard to hear through the sena. Or the chip master has bumped out because no one else wants to hear the...
A few weeks back I was throwballing into a tree at 11 PM while it was still pretty windy to set up rigging to get some pieces of tree out of a roof. That was fun, headlamp on the protos.
What were the weather conditions the summer that they contacted you about the oak trees browning and showing leaf loss?
I see that often around here, but usually not in the oak tree mainly maple trees will have leaf loss mid summer if there is a drought. But there could be any number of...
I wear the cervino chainsaw quickstep boots. I am pretty sure no one in the states sells them. But they aren't bad boots. They are bulkier than your regular arbpro boots.
Mine straight up broke off while I was ascending, I had been monitoring it on my second pair. Honey bros hasn't replied to me yet with what the manufacturer has to say about the first pair that I sent back and they replaced, which was super cool. I just want to know if there is a life...
I just switched to a haas velox, got it yesterday. My saka is breaking and I don't know if the saka is the reason but since I got some arbpro quickstep boots in February I have tore the loop out on two pairs. I feel like this is ridiculous and I will be causing a scene at their booth on Friday...
@MikoDel I belive most mechanical rope grabs do not release slack under tension unlike a hitch which does. I am pretty sure the ART positioner is one of if not the only mechanical ropegrap/lanyard device that can be released under load.
I climb almost five days a week and carry three to four throwlines and an assortment of throwballs with me every day. And there have been days when I have gotten all but one of them stuck in a tree. The best way to get one back if it is stuck is to try and get a ball higher and clip it onto...
I have never heard that one but my wife grew up a few miles away from there and she never heard about it either.
Maybe it died with your generation...?
zig zag is simple to use man! The spiderjack3 incorporates a thumb break and a release lever, and if you suck at thumb braking like I did you just burn through the clutch like a son of a bitch. The zigzag is like the most sensitive hitch cord ever.
I had a day full of those working with the crane today, taking trees down that had some sketchy tops.
Unfortunately the last time heroics could have came into play for me, they did not and I caught the limb with my face.
But protos face shield for the win friends! I live to climb another...
I climbed on a hitch then the zig zag then a hitch again then the spiderjack3 and back to the zig zag.
The spiderjack3 is reallllllly awesome. But the way it functions in order to not burn your clutch out quickly is just not natural after spending a lot of time on a hitch or zig zag. I went...
I think lunch is a must, it just isn't cool to have a crew of guys and tell them they can't stop for a lunch break. Your average job gives breaks I am pretty sure, or they did when I still had a "regular work force" job why should tree work be any different. If we want to be professional and...
Look at your costs involved doing the job and then add on how much you want to make doing the job. Pretty simple way to do it. It gets less simple when you start involving more costs, crane, bucket, wood moving equipment, etc. But if its all hourly find out what you need to make an hour to pay...
Real tree Jedi don't need wedges, we just use the force to push the trees down.
And with the lightsaber the depth gauges and chainsaw all together also become unnecessary.
I am surprised he didn't tell you that.
