FB is a great place to start. get your nose out there. Even if you're personally not on FB, your customers probably are and it gives them your business "tag" and with that they can mention you, recommend you to others, etc. FB actually has an extensive recommendation engine built in - you can...
Chipper? I don't use a chipper when I'm climbing.
Joking aside, I just haul in a dump trailer because I'm not a full timer yet.
As for my market, it's a mixed bag of everything. Rural, small towns, cities of 30-100,000, hilly tight back yards are not uncommon here, and nor is a flat front...
What model is that Giant? And that’s wider than 36” right?
For those of you doing residential work, how important is a 36” wide machine vs a 42 or 48” machine?
We’re not climbing in -32F. At that temp, the trucks don’t start, even if they’re plugged in (block heaters). Last year, the state cancelled school that week because the buses wouldn’t start.
I just climbed on a job today, 43F and sunny ☀️ felt like paradise
I just whip my throw line around the climb line 4-5 times. Very slick & narrow and unties easily. But it will weld slightly if you have to pull the throw line with your body weight.
Awesome thanks for sharing that. but one of my concerns still stands. see video at 1:42 the snow left that didn't get scraped up.
Can someone attest to an Art Loader's ability to put downpressure? Say I ever had a need to scrap sod, would I regret buying an AL?
Sharp opinions have their place. But even horrible mistakes or accidents deserve peace.
Great suggestion with the half hitch.
As for the crane op's point with the straps rubbing - I don't see this being a real issue. Speaking of studies, that might be a simple study: how reps can a strap take...
Curious to know more about that. I talked to chap last year as he was pushing the 14" of snow we got last February. He was pushing with a CAT 277 MTL. I specifically asked him how the tracks were in the snow & ice vs anything else he'd operated. He was quick to tell me that his boss used to have...
I'm not one for buying Amazon off-brand equipment to use for life support. That said, if you're only using it for rigging, this is the best set for the $ out there:

Honestely, I'm not completely out of the market for an articulating loader, either. One thing I've considered in the past was the versatility of an art loader vs a skid, as far as power & attachments.
I think I asked about this before, but I don't remember the answers.
What attachment plates...
How about ground psi? The full size Cat at 4.5psi is actually nicer on turf than the MX85... plus I can use it to pick cants and logs for a sawmill someday.
On the same lines, to clarify the workflow that worked for me now (and did not work a few months ago):
Take photo with iOS Photos app, open TB site in latest Google Chrome app for iOS, click little image button or “Attach files” button and browse to the images.
If I was a forum manager, and I’m not I’m just an IT guy of sorts, I would ask you which app or browser you are accessing the site with. That likely has more to do with it than a network or the forum software.
Yeah for some things a guy might need dealer support. But for other things like fluid lines, swapping an alternator, replacing a relay, etc. I'd rather do it myself anyway. I got all sorts of time when the sun goes down, and someday I'll have a shop with all the right tools. I'm a quick...
