I heard Monsanto just came out with some GM pin oaks resistant to round-up, they call them Win Oaks (trademark), with a name like that, they must be a good thing!
get a crane... lift the house... place the house in the crown of the tree. hazard averted.
seriously though, i would rather live in that tree than in that house.
Random thoughts...
That tree appears to be much more than 18' right now. I would guess at least 25'ish.
I wouldn't know how to do that work from the ground, without climbing it.
I really wish there was more info available about pruning trees to keep them reduced in size long term. Is it not...
What amazed me is how drastic a difference in the force needed to pull over the tree when the angle is changed from perpendicular to the tree to pulling from the ground.
I guess this goes to show how every step farther away from the tree Joe the Puller gets, he really is gaining quite a bit...
After a really close call not long ago, I have much new found respect for vision! (the very end of the work day, pulled a rope out of a tree, the end smacked me in the head and whipped into an eye). Frax, heal well and soon!
Finally, someone with a Puma...

Thanks bonner. I am aware of those caveats, I was interested in how it runs through the HH, and I'm glad the 11mm is working nicely. I'm gonna be trying some 12mm soon, hopefully that runs nice too.
With regards to the HH knot/hitch. Thanks for the info, I will try it out... also will try...
So I was going to do some excavation around the roots but the h.o. didn't seem to want me to do any digging. Basically, the neighbors really like the tree because the birds love it (probably bc it's in decline and setting so many cones!).
Upon inspection of the roots I could see that the flare...
It's funny I was up at the Yankee Peddler in Danbury not long ago after a friend had a gaggle of saws swiped. You're right, there are many at that shop... but not the ones I was looking for. But ya gotta figure some are hot, I mean what are the options for selling so many stolen saws? Pawn...
