A guy in the next town took a fall about a week ago. The word I got was that he cut his lanyard 60' up a longleaf pine. He was still alive yesterday but on life support. I know the other two guys he was working for and I'm really not surprised. One of them fell last year with amazingly only...
I was really surprised at the poor quality work of the outfit that trims for Duke here. I did some srt work in a yard where they had spiked all the gentleman's trees that were close to the right of way, left long stubs on every cut and left all the wood in his yard. I'm not sure who the outfit...
The line crew and trouble man here are top notch hard working guys. Set up a service appointment to drop a service or open a primary branch line and they are on time every time and go above and beyond to help any way they can.
Most were hairless, pink grub worm sized from nests in trees we removed and we nursed them with a syringe and canned puppy formula. Jeff is right, they don't go outside unless it's sitting on my shoulder for a walk around town. They will gobble that puppy formula but it must be kept refrigerated...
Thanks for the story AJ! I've had pet squirrels for years so I can relate to that one. The males as a whole like women and vice versa. The males we've had loved my wife and wouldn't think about biting her but I always had to hold them when she trimmed their claws and I usually ended up with a...
Have only rescued two in nearly 40 years and both were pretty docile and didn't put up a fight. I grabbed and stuffed both pretty quick so I didn't give them much of a chance but I just know somebody's got a mean cat story. Or a jumper. That was my worst fear. Mom, Dad and the kids are watching...
One other thing to always remember with crossbows is to never get fingers too high on the rail as to get into the string path, if you want to keep 'em.
I'd never heard that a heavy bolt or arrow could damage limbs. I shoot a very heavy bolt for gator hunting and to de-cock my crossbow. I'll have to check that out.
Fun idea but I don't see it being a great seller Nick. I could see a few cons being that it's not as fast as a 'biner choke or sling/biner, the chance of losing the ring seems pretty likely, and when the end of your rope gets some wear it requires a new eye splice. Some pros would be that it...
No doubt true most of the time. So many unknown and unseen variables under that bark. Tie in points on tall trees are one of those too. I'm sure most climbers have set their rope on what looked like a great TIP from the ground only to find it far less safe looking once they reached it.
