When did it start declining and was anything done to it before (pruning, etc.)? Any known insects / diseases in the area?
Might be worth looking into your local state extension (or a similar authority) to see if there are any active threats. That may be a good starting point.
When I think of having a minimum under $200, I’m thinking of a 1-2 man crew, with the scope of the work maybe being a couple shrubs trimmed, maybe some branches cut with a pole saw, or a short climb and quick cut and drop.
But that could change depending on the nature of the work. Case in...
Not sure if this counts, but a while back I looked at an ash tree that looked unhealthy and I know emerald ash bore has affected our area.
I personally don’t treat EAB (but may look into starting at some point) so I referred them to someone else that I thought may be able to better assist.
Not...
Itemization pricing of work is not something I usually will do, and the reason why is because it’s always more affordable to do more at once then do a little at different times right? Because every time a truck goes out there’s costs. So you could have a $1,000 project with 5-10 different small...
Grass fed strip loin. Either marinating in zesty Italian dressing for a while or rubbing it in right before cooking or even while cooking gives the meat a nice flavor without being too overpowering (in my opinion). If you’ve never tried it would recommend.
Pasta and what would otherwise be a salad mixed together with grass fed ground beef. Occasionally I will add some Italian dressing to these kinds of pasta dishes in addition to olive oil and it gives it a nice flavor. Also some grated parmesan / romano cheese.
I think the salad needs more cayenne pepper.
First dish is pasta with ground beef, red bell pepper and sweet potato tator tots. Not sure what I added for seasonings / flavor because this was a while ago, but probably something along the lines of either Italian dressing, olive oil, teriyaki...
I have learned a lot and gained some different perspectives on things both tree work related and non-tree work related from interacting with this online community over the years. It's not always a case of not having the answer about something, but being able to compare your own thought processes...
For what it's worth, I didn't mean to come across hostile yesterday or derail the thread. I agree with everything you all said. When I initially wrote that post about the throw ball, it wasn't meant to be in the context that I thought that was an acceptable practice or without consequence. I...
Apparently some people here are perfect and make no mistakes, but don’t shy away at criticizing others for theirs.
I’m not one to take things personally or too serious on the internet, but when one person (me) says they left a throw ball in a tree, another member says they’ve left and lost...
Some people just feel the need to criticize others for whatever they deem not acceptable, regardless if it is actually right or wrong.
Difference is I own what I did, never said it was good decision, and I'm also not embarassed to share my mistakes. What led to me making that decision? Where...
Well I’m glad you and @Reach clarified that for me, thanks!
I find it astounding to see other arborists so quick to criticize another over something like this. Also, interesting how another member said that they lost and left multiple throw balls and nobody says a word about it. But y’all make...
Not even a close comparison.
I’ve got a throw ball wedged up in a tree on my property from a while back when I was rec climbing. I cut the line because I needed it for a job figuring I would go back up for the ball when I had the chance. It’s been up there for years.
What can I say, I and anyone else who has ever left a throw ball in a tree are just incompetent, unskilled, and plain negligent.
Can’t compete with everyone else who is perfect.
No.
Making a decision in the moment out of frustration, anxiety, or whatever is quite different than simply being careless and doing something habitually without regard for the potential risks / consequences.
Unless I saw an obvious pattern of behavior that pointed to carelessness and a...
Was up there with my 25ft pole saw trying to do just that, but I couldn’t find it.
I wonder if I should contact the customer and said I think I might’ve forgot something in the tree and go back to try and get it?
The thing is I also pulled on that sucker as hard as I could to try and yank it...
