Am I the only one who gets this scared?

She, btw. Rico I appreciate your bluntness. And believe me, I have definitely asked myself "what the HELLLL am I doing here?! Am I cut out for this?" But the answer is always that same, as I answer my own question " cause I can't do anything else" I've been looking for a profession like...

Am I the only one who gets this scared?

I agree. I have experience with fall protection as well as fall restraint but from rated anchors and tree work is basically active fall restraint from unrated anchors. And you're right cause our equipment is meant for no shock loads. Fall pro has energy absorbers and fancy crap like that. Side...

Am I the only one who gets this scared?

I'm very happy and surprised by the amount of support here. This is incredible. I don't have the option for switching foremans but I think I'll do is when he's having a fit just tune him out and do me. Like you guys have said, slow is better than dead. My next climbs are this thurs-sun...

Haha ohhhh I hand throw as much as I can, if not I'll big shot it. What I like best about srt is no more having to isolate the branch for drt. Shoot it, if it's captured in a crotch then it's good. Then a good bounce test at around 5-10ft. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Am I the only one who gets this scared?

I climb both but I just recently got the kit for srt and I'm enjoying it so it's my go-to right now. So you mean something like the running alpine butterfly-type retrievable anchor method? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

With a throw line? Lol. And a basal srt anchor on a f8. I use a friction saver when I climb drt Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Tree Work: America's Deadliest Job

I agree and rigging is more complicated because you don't want to hit the boom, they usually mess up a lawn pretty good or you can't get them into the back yard. Climbing wins every time... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Am I the only one who gets this scared?

Ok cool. Cause I also sometimes just set a low-ish TIP from the ground, then climb to it and advance my line up and maybe include some static redirects. Similar, but I'll try with a second line! Thanks for the tip (as in pointer, not TIP haha..). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

When climbing with two lines, you set both of them from the ground? Like instead of adding a line once you're up I mean Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

And here I was, thinking everybody would tell me to just "man up" [emoji23] (Even though I'm a girl) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Am I the only one who gets this scared?

I think a common theme here is that I need to push back when I'm being pressured. It helps no one. But I like having him around to bounce ideas off of. The other day I removed a medium sized oak in record time while having a damn near anxiety attack. I wanted to throw up, I was weak, my hands...

Am I the only one who gets this scared?

I can't keep up with the replying at this point, but I want to thank everyone for their input! I will take it to heart and I now have some things I can try or things to think about. It's so good to know other people experience this as well. What a great response, I'm glad I asked.. Sent...

Am I the only one who gets this scared?

I did the same thing! Tie into large branches all the time... and yup. Limb walking was very difficult. My TIPs have gotten a lot better and by that I mean higher, and with the better angles it does feel a more secure. I do understand that movement is good though, as flexibility is a sign of...

Am I the only one who gets this scared?

I'm doing basically that as well. Good to know I'm on the right track. I do find that I use more redirects when I'm sketched out, to spread out the weight. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

That's a great idea! I'll give this a try next time I'm up. I can definitely see how that could force you to trust it more. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I would never, but that's pretty funny. I'll just chalk that one up to, more time in tree.

Am I the only one who gets this scared?

Just hearing about other people is helpful. I had just had such a hard time finding info on this topic that I felt it must just be me. I can do relatively tall trees, I'm not really restricting myself with height. A fall is a fall, really. That first bit about my head saying yes and my body...

Am I the only one who gets this scared?

Take it easy on me, this is really hard to bring up. I have a reasonably sized problem and I think this is the best place to ask to get some guidance. I've been cruising the forum for a few months now and haven't found a thread to this effect but if there is one already I apologize. Here's my...

    Tree Work: America's Deadliest Job

Soooo mothers can let their daughters be tree climbers then? Just making a point. Way to rule out women right off the hop, stupid ad. I understand male-dominated fields of work but that's a little ridiculous. That kind of s**t reeeally gets to me, sorry! Also, like mentioned above, if you're...
