I like the smaller Caritools cause they're a lot cheaper and smaller profile. They are strong enough for stuff I hang on them. The 1 large one I have is for my saw. I'm looking forward to seeing the aluminum ones that are coming though.
We started not to long ago and like others have said, definitely keep it low and slow both in the tree and while learning at first. Personally, I wouldn't try to learn to splice rope while learning to climb as my brain would probably just shut down with overload, but you may be different than me...
Thanks JeffGu for the advice. I'm gonna go ahead and grab some 10mm OP on my next order. That Trango Cinch looks sweet, but for now gonna stick with my pinto and hitch since I bought those not to long ago. I tried the Distel when my rope and hitch cord were still new and it just didn't work...
Not much experience here, but I started with Arbormaster and recently got some Tachyon and I absolutely love the Tachyon. Not that the Arbormaster is bad by no means, but the Tachyon just handles so well for me.
Right now I climb with a 25' lanyard set up just like the CE Lanyard system with Pinto, but with Arbormaster BRW. I love the set-up, but I want a small, light rope so when daisy chained to my saddle, it's not so noticeable. I was thinking about ordering 25-30' of 10mm OP for this. Any reasons...
