SAKA update and answers to issues for fast climbers.

Sooo...where are these available, then? ;) And is the mini up for grabs yet?

    Quickie - favorite uses

Here's The Original milled steel version, and the New Cast Stainless one, which is much more reasonably priced.

    Samson 11.8 rope

Bump...personally curious as well. I believe it's called Tangent.

    Courant koala harness

That was what interested me in them...the product description actually states that the screws carry zero of the actual weight/force applied. Are the seams between the two halves rope-friendly? My only other concern would be snagging/picking... You know of any suppliers carrying just the rings...

    Courant koala harness

If I may ask...what're your thoughts on the 'Olik' openable rings at either end of the Bridge suspension? This guy... https://mycourant.com/en/single/130

    Quickie - favorite uses

I have mine on a 10mm armorprus eye2eye that I use for everything. Canopy anchors and a prussik connecting the two sides of my flipline when chunking down being the most common, the latter because a carabiner would be faster, but it'd be sideloaded in a sharp lean.

SAKA update and answers to issues for fast climbers.

Awesome stuff. Can we anticipate/assume that this new custom, in-house ascender cam and housing are going to be a part of the pending SAKA mini as well?

    Which Arkansas Pine is this?

Russellville/Lake Dardanelle Area. I'm back in Indiana, and they aren't there at present for a needle count.

    Which Arkansas Pine is this?

Visited my sister and parents down in Arkansas (which is not where I was raised) a few weeks back and cleaned out their trees. Absolutely fell in love with their pines, but the greater interwebs search has been pretty useless in helping me sort out which of Arkansas' major pines these ones...

    Work Photos

Deadwooding some gorgeous pines in Arkansas, and a little bit of reduction for house clearance on the same property.

    Yale Scandere

I'm all for the scotch discussion, but I'm still over here dying over the Yale notice in the photo: "Removal by any other means will create a mess and make you angry."

    SAKA mini

I don't know if there's actually a wait list for this "mini" anywhere...but if there is, I'll sign my name in blood if I have to.

15 years of doing tree work and had my first property damage today.

15 years? I dented a chainlink fence top rail on my first removal. Chunking down, sure enough, a 3' piece hit the ground at the wrong angle, bounded off doing cartwheels, and dented the fence. Few years later, I dented another piece of fencing and stripped the gutters off of a house with the...

    What do you do when...

I agree with you on principle that it's really not my fight what another company does...but if we pride ourselves on going out of our way to educate others on safer, better working ethics, why should it stop outside organized seminars? Just throwing rhetoricals out here...I just don't feel like...

    What do you do when...

...you're out in public, and come across a company doing work with numerous obvious safety violations going on? Call them out? Leave it alone? ("It's not my gig, don't want to start a fight", etc?) Today I was walking my dog through a local park, when I came across a local company doing a...

    Little tricks

Silky saw carriers have that biner hole in them, but I feed the webbing of my saddle leg straps through the rubber "belt loop" instead. Gets a mid-size or smaller handsaw in a more comfortable position (personally), being a little lower but not way down on my calf. I'm intrigued by all the...

So I was sent to chop this tree down today...

Doesn't look too big. Put on some junk pants, and get out there with a two-man crosscut saw!

    Petzl Adjustable Rope Bridge

What treestuff is getting at is that, in the event of shock loading, the roll 'n lock in that setup on your paw could technically cut off your stopper knot completely rather than just slipping/shearing the sheath only and letting the knot catch you, resulting in an uncontrollable fall. There...

    Petzl Adjustable Rope Bridge

Well that right there's what makes the difference, then. That also explains its slow tendency to creep I've had described to me by a user; wouldn't happen in a static hanging situation on rock, but all the movement in a tree and occasional slacking when re-crotching, etc. could cause this...
