If you open the gate on the transporter and push the lock down into the “locked” position while keeping the gate open it sets it up such that the gate can’t close all the way. In this configuration it’s perfect for twisting gear off one handed, and the rigid loop on the back of the husky battery...
I enjoy this old tony for sure. The lathe I’ve got is an atlas 9”. It needs some work to get it running, but it was free! As for the drawbar, I don’t torque it too hard. Just enough to get a click or two out of the driver.
Yeah, I never pursued the drum brake beyond a concept sketch. Too far...
I had an idea a while back for a clutch mechanism. Imagine a pulley wheel with an oversized center hole. The pulley bushing rides on a pair of braking shoes and there is a wedge shaped piece between them. The wedge rides in a slot in the side plates. When the wedge is oriented sideways there is...
Omg, short drill bits! The thought never even crossed my mind and now I feel so dumb! I know what I’ll be ordering tonight . For the the drawbar I use a 12 point socket on my cordless impact driver. It works awesome and the drawbar has a top collar that ejects they collets if you back id off all...
I bought a precision Matthews 25 with dro. It has electronic speed control with two position belt for high and low range speeds. For my needs this machine is perfect. My only complaint with it is the short quill travel (2”), but it has a dovetail z axis so that makes up for it somewhat. I bought...
That’s why I’m not posting pictures. I’m working on protecting it. Patents are such a racket, and really not there to protect inventors. They are for protecting corporate IP. But, we work within the system we have I guess
What I have in mind would have an mbs of 8000lbs or so (maybe 7000), so an 800lb load at 10:1 margin. Probably not something you’d want to negative rig with unless it’s small stuff but definitely something that you could take a wrap on a porty and feel safe on a bigger piece. Definitely midline...
In your opinion, is there room in the arborist market for another rigging device like the AFB, rigging wrench, safeblock, etc.? I’ve got a design that I’ve been working on for a while and I’m curious if there is any interest in yet another friction tool. I’m honestly surprised the rigging wrench...
I really like the look of this one. It looks like a coherent whole, and sexy. Definitely looks lighter than the rr2. I doubt you could ever shave weight off the original design what with it being so minimal in materials, not to mention moving to stainless bollards. Congratulations on a job well...
which one was this? if its jerky on descent try tightening up the bottom setting. i am working on a different spring placement. it seems that is one of the major reasons the akimbo sucks at sap so much.
I confess that I sometimes put a drop of bar oil on the cam if it sticks in the field. It’s always on hand, but it does attract crud so it needs to me cleaned and blown out back at the shop.
I’ve not yet heard of anyone wearing out the RE Akimbos yet. Of the gofundme Version, I shipped out 65 of them and I’ve rebuilt less than 10 so far. That doesn’t necessarily mean there aren’t more out there that are ready to retire, but no one has contacted me about them if they are. A couple of...
@Brocky , if you made the two holes adjacent to the carabiner joined into a slot could to then eliminate the need to untie and retie your stopper knot? The slot would allow you to push a bight through and capture it with the biner. You could do one or both sides that way.
