New chipper purchase.
As big as you can afford. Never gonna complain about it. We went from a bandit 90 to a 1890...bottle neck on clean up is still the chipper now, cause we have a toro tx1000 stuffing er. Incredible damage!!!
We have same kinda thing from time to time round here. "They" call em micro bursts...some times the trees are twisted where they broke. Witnesses confirm a tornado touched and dissipated. Most likely due to the terrain.- frashdog

Working In Hell
Every summer/winter season we do this. Oh it's so hot...oh now it's so cold. I'm the guy in 90degree weather who cranks the ac till I get a chill...then I put the seat heaters on, ac still blasting. About those mid-ties...

Yea, don't blame me if you decide to start your own thing and get a bit stressed from time to time. But...if you your wife can support you. Man, being your own boss has it's perks. Bro put your balls on the table and start taking loans out for equipment. Sounds like you got more skills then most guys who run tree services. Start with a brand new one ton. Maybe $700-$800/mo. Not sure we are comparing apples to apples here with a 35hp machine that even weighs more now. Still no comparison with even their bigger machine. I bought a mini to lift stuff the toro tx1000 tips at 3,071 lbs The Vermeer 800tx tips at 2,400 lbs and does not vertically lift...- frashdog

I think you were going at it wrong. I can grab massive piles of brush. Drag them or pick them up, then drop on the chipper deck and one more grab and shove a few feet out and it's in. Big enough to choke our 1890 down. Length is no matter. The grab occurs only a few feet from the end of the pile...- frashdog
