Awesome trailer! If I wasn't in the market for a bucket truck I'd snatch this up. I'm right around the "corner" in Schenectady county to.

Not true.
I have a one ton gvwr of 12k and tow a trailer with Gvwr of 12k. Been through plenty of dot stops and have had discussions with troopers. Class a is only required if trailer is over 10k AND the gcvw is over 26k. we go over this like once a year on the buzz. The language in the nys dot regs can easily be mis read to make one believe a trailer over 10k needs a class a.

@frashdog, I am glad to hear that. It seems like NY trys to rape the small business owner for every buck they can. Some guys don't want to go "big," and want to just run a smaller scale operation with a pick-up and trailer. They shouldn't have to be bothered by the big dog rules and regulations.
 
Frashdog I said that about the over 10k because they gave me that ticket personally I was driving a 99 switch n go international juice breaks was 24gvw and the dump trailer was a 14k this scandal made me get my class a. Bottom line when I'm in dot I don't have the dot rule law book with me to check there tickets. I get um hope I can drive away n I get to job. Give tickets to lawyer and let him deal with that madness

It really sucks to go through all that extra horse shit when your just trying to put food on the table. Sucks even worse is DOT collects tons of coin and our roads suck sweaty moose balls. I'm tired of vehicle repairs.

What I think sucks is no one can give you a straight answer. I had a trooper say get you class A. Got stopped for no DOT numbers, then told by a cop friend I didn't need them, then told by a trooper "I see you again with out I'm stopping you". I think someone said it before the laws are written so poorly that even the enforcement entities don't know what they mean or how to enforce them.
Oh and don't check the wrong box applying for DOT numbers it'll cost you $300 vs. $0. Don't forget UCR either. There is no one to tell you this crap! It's all in how you read the law and who you wanna bet is right! Cause that's just what you are doing is betting your hard earned coin.

DTS - if I hadn't just dropped 23k on a truck I think I would pick this trailer up it would be sweet to have for my little operation.

Right on...
You were in class a land there...your gcvwr (truck and trailer) was 38k and your trailer was over 10k.
If your truck gvwr was 11,999, you'd have been fine at a gcvwr at 25,999
