Eric, Heck yeah!!! Completely agree. After I had ascended up to my PSP I descended back down to where I was going to start moving around the canopy. On my decent I released both systems with one hand with ease. And i'm still running a mismatched configuration with the BDB and the RW. I...
Tachyon with the 5/8.... sweet as sweet can get! Had such a great climb today DRT. I need another BDB. Gordon? Timeframe? Gona just send you a check asap! -BEN
Levi, I am totally not the one to ask. I'm (as you know) so new at this. I very often set an additional system up once aloft. Like a long lanyard or short SRT system or whatever else. I think the cool thing about this is setting one system from the ground and then working off it for the...
Climbed DSRT today for fun. It was amazing! I finally got it to a point the whole process was smooth. Pulled a single line of escalator over my PSP. Attached a delta link and 2 lines of Tachyon and base tied the escalator. Bone on one, RW on the other and ascended tending only the RW system...
Here's a pic of the Atlas. Not a great pic but you get the idea. Pretty neat tree. They are everywhere around here and get huge. Climbing them is like climbing in a cathedral. Deodar's are my favorite because of the longer, wispy foliage.
Ok. not to get derailed....
When I was ascending...
I actually have two hanks of Tachyon. I'll switch to that and try it later today. I'll keep the 5/8 in for now and see how it does. When I first was using the bone it was on Luna but it was brand new rope. The poison Ivy is way old and well used. I'll report back later.... -BEN
So...... today I ran my BDB with an old hank of poison ivy. All my normal "go to" ropes were at home as I have been rec climbing a lot lately. I have kept the bone in the same configuration it came in. 5/8 bollard right? It ran great with my tachyon, gret with my new luna (11.7 yale) but on...
Thanks so much Eric for the quick and very in depth response! I really appreciate it. I didn't get to "play" at work today. The Atlas Cedar I was restoring (storm damage from last Feb. Better late than never?) sucked to climb. It was no fun SRT DSRT or anything else that involved moving...
Oh man, got it. That support post looked like a ladder. (?) Still, like it would be any better to be standing on a ladder backwards. Now that I look at it close I can see that. I thought it was one of those yellow fiberglass werner ladders. Anyway, makes it bad, bad, and more bad. It'll...
Hey all...I have questions!
I have been playing around with a lot of DRT lately on weekends. I know I am at a disadvantage as I don't (yet) have mirrored systems. I'm running a Bull Dog Bone on one line and a RW on the other. I LOVE the BDB and will be buying another one asap. Thanks...
Is he a qualified line clearance arborist or trainee? Its tough to tell from that angle what exactly is happening. If he is using a non conductive ladder and using the best set up non conductive pole pruner and is maintaining MAD for whatever his qualifications are based on the estimated...
My Bone is here! Thanks Gordon! So bummed I didn't get to fly it yesterday, had to drive 2 hours to PDX to take the EHAP course. I will give it a run today for sure though! Can't wait!!!!
Thanks guys and especially thank you GORDON! Can't wait for it to get here! As far as tending goes I used to always use an over the shoulder tether with the wrench but I was finally lucky enough to get a harness from Paul D. Tough to go back to the bungee after using Paul's awesome chest...
Hey guys! Ive been following this thread for a while trying to learn all I can. Now that I have a BDB coming from Gordon i'm trying to sort through what I really need to change up or incorporate in the set up for it to function the best. Oceans, Tyler, Mac, Gordon, give me your quick 2 cents...
