Not to derail this thread, just one question.
I somehow still see pictures flying around with Zigzags used in combo with the ropewrench.
Is the Ropewrench actually rated as PPE? Why would anyone risk his life by not using the ZZ as it should by incorporating something in a system that isn't...
IMHO you don't need to remove the girdling roots. What you have to do is cut it (maybe in more than one place).
By cutting you relieve the tension on the underlying bark. Removing those roots only risks damaging the trees bark tissue.
It's never a question whether you have to cut/remove girdling...
I still climb on that every day. After reading about the first 'issues' breaking the alloy eyes I had to follow a fellow arborist by making my own bombproof HitchZag.
But this was not the picture I was referring to David.
About a month ago I came across a picture of the Zigzag 2 and the supposedly Zigzag 3 side by side.
I think the picture came from Treetools. Can't find it anywhere anymore.
2.1? We're living in a very divided world. I didn't know Husqvarna made a 2.1 amps battery. Btw, I was referring to the smallest battery being the 1.5 amps but I meant 1.6 amps. Corrected it in the first reply.
Noooooooooooooo!
The 536LiXP is NOT to be used in combination with the 1.6 amps battery!
During the pre production testing the saw was draining the small battery to quick.
Husqvarna deemed that combination not fit to go together. For that reason Husqvarna modified the body of the saw and the...
No no, the "friction saver" was not mentioned as a tool, just as a direction where the rope goes. I also could have said "(false)crotch in the top of the tree".
I was hoping that you would have said, SRT with the aid of a Rope Wrench.
The way you use it is the way I use it. The only difference...
Working with a chainsaw? Sawpants on! I don't see the issue. Accidents are never planned, they occur. Those sawpants have kept my legs safe for more than thirty years. Coming from 16 layers nylon inlays in cotton pants you don't hear me complaining in those six layers Vents.
I am not really curious with what materials you climb. I am curious what kind of climbing system you work on. Is your rope going up from the ZZ through a friction saver back to the ZZ?
It's a great saw. Don't think about the battery. It charges quicker than you can run it flat. The saw comes with a charger and two batteries, so when you bring the saw to the client you can work all day round.
Don't compare this saw with the 201 or 540. It just isn't in the same league. But on...
Correct.
I changed back from a pulley friction saver to a ring ring friction saver about six years ago. At first I changed over to a DMM revolver/ring but later on went all the way back.
Over heating and extra strain on the hitch is one. The other problem I wanted to tackle was the fact that...
Nanotechnology...
Is that the 2012 Asbestos? Particals so small they invade the body on a cellular level and no one knows what that stuff does in the long run.

Im on several forums, I kinda prefer this outdated software. I like the simplicity. Some forums have too much going on, kind of like a 10 page restaurant menu.
