    trees and spirits and stuff

I had a client (an American couple) who had a chateau type property. They hired me to take out 2 trees, a 40 year old Leylandii and something else smaller, days work. So we’re there at 9am, parked in front of the leylandii filling the saws up, and the husband comes out, and with an earnest face...

Karma doesn’t exist, it’s a concept like the tooth fairy. I have no idea why some people just accept it as an immutable law of existence.

    Yes, nice subtle touch.

    Does anyone advertise on Facebook?

In a similar situation. I always steered clear of FB cos the quality of enquiry is often poor, but needs must lately. Got a mate who doesn’t advertise on FB per se, but just puts up a few pictures of a job, a bit of an explanation, then a short line ‘if you need a quote etc…’ Not really whoring...

Love tree work. Not the tree business.

Partly. I had a guy from the village to help me as a third man on a casual basis when I was in the UK over 20 years ago. We had quite a few run ins, but he was no thief, and if he was ‘there’ he did ok. In the end (long after I left) he straightened himself out to an extent, does ROW line...

I have found heroin addicts make good occasional workers, they’re pretty much always available, keen as mustard for a couple of days, and you usually know where to find them. Just don’t pay them in the evening if they’re due to work the next day.

    New device from ISC

Good review. “Less optimal second hole” is a moot point:) I read somewhere it doesn’t self tend if you use it. I don’t like self tending, part of the reason I don’t use a mechanical.

@RyanCafferky Did I see you’ve just bought a bigger Avant to replace your 528 on some FB site?

Love tree work. Not the tree business.

Well, I have known people who do many different jobs who are just as obsessed as some of us seem to be about tree work. Farmers, roofers, commercial fishermen, car mechanics and bodywork specialists, even teachers, I’m sure the list goes on.

Isa website so bad it’s embarrassing

This is a very good point.

I don’t mind a lot of the other stuff associated with running a (v.small) tree company. Making my own decisions, dealing with clients can be fun, buying and running new gear and vehicles, I wouldn’t want to just be a money making asset for someone else, mind at my age that’d be a stretch. Of...

For me personally two years is a genuine turning point, I am 63 this year and if I can keep going for a little while longer then certain tangible benefits will appear. I can’t go into detail as I’m sure you understand.

Just keep ploughing forward, targeting that 2 year selling deadline. We all get low periods, I’m in one at the moment, but don’t lose sight of the prize. Two more years..

How do you handle diesel fuel for your equipment?

Are they part of Kramerica industries perchance?

I don’t recognise that as an issue, spilled diesel yes, just ambient diesel whilst refueling shouldn’t leave an odour.
