suggestions for saving this cracked oak??

Root collar excavation will tell alot about the progression of fungus....... I'll bet dollars to donuts that the flare is punky, soft and substantially compromised..... That last photo looks like gingivitis to me.... Keeping a structurally imperfect tree requires a structurally 'perfect'...

suggestions for saving this cracked oak??

Triangulating cables to hold it up would be best, but the support trees don't look to be located in the right places for that.... Grover's solution, Cabled to the support trees, coupled with having the client sign a liability release..... if they're adamant about keeping it.... Otherwise...

[ QUOTE ] Sorry you had so much so close. 1 crane near a power line getting a ground guy touching a chipper. 1 " lawn and tree service". 1 "independent contractor working alone ". These men are gone forever. Were these the three incidences avoidable? How? People are broke. Stuff...

[ QUOTE ] In Jr High I had a science teacher who said there is no such thing as an accident. We, of course, rolled our eyes and joked about him. As an adult, and specially since becoming an arborist, I see his point. It is about constant vigilance while working. Something too often sacrificed...
