ITCC Rope Wrench Submission

Now I just hope the ruling comes before the Wisconsin TCC in a couple weeks. As of right now the RW is a no go. But I am not getting my hopes up.

Awesome stuff you put together kevin. Now I just hope all this hard work pays off.

Any of you guys using the 8 mm Armor Prus, and if you are, what line are you using with it?

[/ QUOTE ]

I have it and use it on Poison Ivy. Works really well with 3 wraps and 3 braids.

Any word from ISA yet? I pretty sure I know what there respons is going to be but I have my fingers crossed. It sucks everyday I keep telling myself I should start climbing ddrt, so I'm not rusty for the comp but it's just so much easier to SRT everything I can't bring myself to switch back.

Casey, what length cord are you using, and does it have spliced eyes on either end?

I am not sure of the length. Cary suggested a shorter eye to eye. It may be 25 or 28. No sewn eyes just knots.

Thanks for taking the time Kevin. I haven’t gotten around to making a solid tether yet but I will soon.

I feel your pain. Was practicing running a work climb ddrt over the weekend. So slooow. Burned up my hands... Hockles... Untangling rope... Srt really is an unfair advantage, at least in the case of me vs. Me anyway.

Kevin – I am letting you know that the ITCC Operations Committee will not be allowing the Rope Wrench at the 2012 ITCC in Portland.

The decision is based on the following:

-The information you submitted missed the deadline of June 29th that was provided to all competitors in the ITCC invitation letter. Emails were submitted over the course of 2-days on June 30 and july 1st.

-The Technical Committee did receive the information that was forwarded; however, despite the large amount of data submitted, a number of key items that were originally requested by the TAC were still missing. Therefore, the TAC feels it is unable to make a founded decision in regards to the safety of the system prior to the ITCC.

The TAC has been tasked by ISA leadership and the ITCC Operations Committee to assess whether systems, assemblies or components meet industry standards and are suitable to be used at the TCCs. In regards to the Rope Wrench submission, this has not yet proved possible for them to assess, therefore the Operations Committee cannot allow it at this year’s competition.

Any idea of what were the missing components you needed to prove? Also too bad about the time frame. Better luck next year.

yeah that is a tight window. the European champion only had 5 days to submit something. It took my slow computer 12 hours to upload the longer video to you tube. I realized friday at about 9 pm that I didn't have a chance to get it all in. I didn't realize it was going to be a deal breaker. The extra time I spent on it on Saturday was worth it. Its their comp.

How shall I put this....... I'm not surprised ? Looks like they found another "out" ?

I guess this means that they will not actually be reviewing any innovative techniques during the gear check as listed in the rule book since the climbers did not submit their 100 page thesis prior to the deadline?

shmeeeeesh .....what a crock !!!!!

I hate to say it, but this technique is over 2 + years old now.......think you might want to address the potential one of these freaking years ?????????

Whether you like it or not, SRT Work Positioning is happening in a lot of places with many different tools and techniques....If your committee can't figure out a way to address it you may want to consider enlisting a few people who can.......
