    drop a 75' tree in a 50' LZ

Re: \"why must I always explain\" Van Morrison [ QUOTE ] Unless it hits another tree or building or hill on the way down.. there has to be something there to stop the forward motion of the tree.. only when it stops will gravity push down and back on the butt... [/ QUOTE ] It doesn't have...

    drop a 75' tree in a 50' LZ

Re: always so sure of what can\'t be done you are [ QUOTE ] where that tree did not hit something on the way down, or barberchair? [/ QUOTE ] The saw could quit part way into the back cut.

    Failing Pine

[ QUOTE ] Set it down gently on the house [/ QUOTE ] Really? I don't think this is an option. Binder the trunk, crib it with timbers, guy it back to a truck or tree, climb it and take it down.

He should have a blood test. Might have something to do with salt intake. Gatorade works for me.

    drop a 75' tree in a 50' LZ

Re: drop a 75\' tree in a 50\' LZ I don't know why you would take a chance like that with your experience. Part of that top could have broken out and came back on you when it made contact with that other top as it was coming over.

What do you guys think about the Husqvarna 334T ?

Re: What do you guys think about the Husqvarna 334 I wouldn't buy another saw with the air filter mounted in front. The new T435 might be a good saw.

    drop a 75' tree in a 50' LZ

Re: drop a 75\' tree in a 50\' LZ I wouldn't do it,not worth the risk involved. Even when it goes good if that much weight hits the root system it will send a shock up both gaffs that will come together at your spine and follow it up to the base of your neck. A fifty foot top here would mean...

    log sledding?

Ground pressure isn't much if you keep the tire pressure down. A way to improve it would be add extra wheels. I have a six wheel Argo and it has less ground pressure than a mans foot print. Anything you drag repeatedly on the grass will likely kill it. You could cut them into smaller pieces and...

    log sledding?

A log arch works good for this purpose. http://www.logrite.com/mainarch.html has large tires on some models. They can be winched or towed. I have loaded my arch with the weight on the back bringing the tongue up and winching with the portable winch. The tongue drops to level while winching.

    Stihl 192T or Husqvarna 334T

I have a 335 and it is hard to start without a primer. The air filter is on the front and plugs up quick, poor place for an air filter. I haven't heard any reports on their new T435 saw.

    Rocker

[ QUOTE ] Any references you know of that describe the Micro as damaging the rope? [/ QUOTE ] I ran into a reference the other day when searching. It said the cam can damage the rope but not to the extent of a toothed cam. I like the idea that the rocker tends itself and I might try it under...

    Beaver damage, What to do?

They have to eat and they have to keep their teeth ground down by chewing because the teeth continue to grow. Fencing might be a short term solution but they will move to the neighbors or flood out the area to get further back. They are just doing what comes natural to them. Wolves and bears...

I sit on a seat that is elevated by the GRCS and the safety line is separate. There has been some testing done, maybe you have seen this ... [ QUOTE ] As expected, our testing on back-up devices raised as many questions as it answered. In some respects our findings concerning the Petzl Shunt...

I have a few micro's mainly for flipline control. They aren't good for main ascenders because they can damage a rope in the case of a fall ,that's why I was looking at the rocker. I'm using it as an ascender with an elevator system using the GRCS. I use a separate safety line to work from. I...

It's intended as a back up only Tom? Not sure I understand why if that's the case, what is accepted to replace a climbing hitch that is mechanical and won't damage the rope in case of a short fall? [ QUOTE ] The Rocker Rope Grab is a fall-arrest-rated rope grab which can be used to arrest a...
