i ran one at my old job for 3 months. the 334 is junk. in my opinion all huskys except the 3120, 372, 595 are junk. you can throw a stihl under the bus and it will still run. i've seen a 200t go down with a block.... they put more gas in it and sent it back to me, a couple of scratches.

Dang! That is what I was gonna say. I think of some Husky's as Hollywood Housewives, they are great when you first use them, but a lot of dang maintenance. I talked to a guy last nite at dinner after the workshop and he had just got a 090 from south africa- new- guy bought it, stored it, sold it, how cool is that?!

If you was considering the 344 you may want to look into the jonsered clone. Cheaper with alot of the parts able to be swapped. Of course dealer servicing is a great thing to consider. I used to have a Husky 335xpt I believe. Saw was stolen by a coworker I thought. When that series of saws came out they did have issues with oiling, and the spark plug (rear cover) pyrmid shaped piece coming off, as it only snapped on. They have fixed these issues and they seem to be a decent saw. I priced the Jonsered at a local dealer and he quoted me $350. I am Stihl loyal and would agree with the other posts. You would be making a great choice in aquiring a 200T. They did have run of bad carbs but do like I do. Find an older 020T pre-current EPA standards and cut like mad.

I am a husky guy all the way.....except the top handle saws...I have had 6 or more over the years and they never held up over time. I use a stihl 200t for the top handle and it out lasts the husky top handles in my opinion and experience. Of course the 346xp is the best in my opinion for tree work until you need a 20" bar(for removals).

We all know the 200t is the cadillac of saws for top handle. So you get Husky 338xpt thats more like Ford (fill in your kind of truck) and so on so on. I have used both saws and found the Husky 338xpt lighter, easier to move around, and well it comes in that great saftey orange color. Ok all joking aside I think you just have to see which one feels good in your hands.

..... my 020T was my first top handle climb saw ... I replaced the fuel pickup assembly once a year ....it was a great saw ... sold it ... since then I've purchased four Husky top handles ... at the end of last summer purchased the T435 , they have changed the handle design , control switch array , and suspension point .... also relocated the fuel tank ...worth checking out ! ...Dave

I had one years ago, all I remember is the rear cover coming off constantly, which exposed the spark plug boot, which was wearing through, and on a hot sweaty day giving me the wake up of a lifetime.

Me too. I was limbing and bucking one day and rested the saw near my groin.

I nearly shocked myself in the man parts!

That's your opinion, Jeff......and you have a right to express it. However, if you had run the 346, 357, 385 and 390, you would be hard pressed to be able to find any reason for that brash statement.

The 346, in both its incarnations, is far and away the best 3 cube saw, stock, or ported. The 357 is very close to the 361 in quality, weight, power and durability. The 390, when ported, will keep up with a ported 660, and be 2 pounds lighter. Stock, it is no slouch.

And the 338 or 2139T Jonsered is every bit as good as the 200T, and is much cheaper. Add a second port to its muffler, and the power surge will blow away the 200T, with its screen removed. (I'd not want to do more porting to the 200T, as its is already mighty loud with the screen removed.)

Mark, you need to reconsider the Elux saws. All the problems are solved. Do so, and buy the 2139T Jonsy, as it is cheaper than the 338...and prettier! Port the muffler, but you better be prepared for the blazing speed that will result.

Now, as for the 346, you should have one fully woods ported. My latest, the 50 cc model, is prolly putting out in the neighborhood of 5.5 hp....and is nothing short of wicked fast! It would pull a 24 inch bar with ease, in softwoods, should I want to run it so equipped. I don't, but may try it someday.
