I would find the biggest guys on here and figure out what hitch they are using, and I would test those options no wrench… it if is gonna work it would only work for the very lightest of guys.
if someone has a picture of the "jump hitch" they could share???? I would think if a hitch...
that is a good point, rangers area used to seeing old out of shape fat guys climbing trees, with aluminum frame contraptions with arrows and all kinds of other things, none of which are a means of life support.
a guy who looks like he knows what he is doing with a hard hat, probably...
ok,
this is a question I have had for a while. when we switched from drt to srt we had to add in something to take load off the hitch. if you are only starting with half the load in the first place do you need to add anything?
I'm talking guys who are in the 110 - 130 range.
if you...
if you are looking for practice rope call knot and rope supply, and get some of their double braid. its super easy. great way to learn and it exemplifies the behavior of a double braid rope. way easier to see how it works.
and its even cheaper than sat-set. plus you can make dock...
I love it, always have loved trees.
you just have to love a modiste life style. because is is not gonna pay great , never will. by design it cannot. but by design it will never be a bad income either. and the work is interesting, and rewarding for the most part.
the biggest challenge I...
To everyone who helped make the HAAS successful by giving it a try
thank you. its really humbling.
I wanted to post an update, as many of you were really instrumental in this product. Just Sunday I was able to launch a website devoted to the HAAS.
www.haastreegear.com
and currently...
well the data would have value only if it was "living", so basically the program would build a database of every tree cataloged. so when you removed a tree, you would remove it from the catalog.
it would operate like a huge excel spread sheet. and when you sent in a file, if it was...
toying with the idea of building a tree id app. with a built in catalog.
the way it may work, all of our smart phones have a ok gps. Open up the app and fill in form with location, and pictures of whole tree, of a leave, trunk and whole tree. and any disease or insect issues with...
Mark,
I really like SRT but in this case, I just DRT it. no knots, easy retrieval. and I'm not concerned with the 1:1 and if I do have to position I have a advantage if I want it. I think in this is a case, SRT is not a advantage.
also as I think about it, you are actually doing more...

you would actually be better off if it was just one rope.

I disagree about this point. The more rope that is in the system, the less force there will be on the anchor due to rope stretch. This is why in rock climbing...
Re: Petal preliminary research
this is a apples and oranges comparison. I love srt, and I see nothing wrong with it.
however, the best way to think about force on the TIP, or crotch of the basel system is what would it "feel" like. to you. these are equal and opposite forces.
here is a...
I was told that to actually"drop start" a saw you had to have your hand on the throttle, you know like when your ground guys floods it trying to "warm it up for you" then get embarrasses and does not tell you till after you cannot get it started then he yells up and says " yea I could not get...
I'm with Bonner,
I love arbormaster for light rigging and natural crotch work, even some not so light work too.. 95% of everything I take is on Arbormaster. stuff is great, and is super tough. I think I have only ever bought one hank to climb on.
Re: \'Soft Technology\' SRT Systems
you cannot talk to a tree guy who has not or does not know of someone who, has had a serious incident. but I cannot think of one involving a hitch. fall out of a tree for lack of stopper, struck by, cut out a tip, cut a line, blew out a tip, blow out a...
Eric,
your on. I got a new double pumper, ready to go. any time my friend any time!
I had a cave guy call me out to his world record races, he told me the fastest known 60 ft was 20 seconds, and that I was a lier! I kinda want to get a old fat guy to HAAS his way into the caving...
