Yes,it works very well. A tether that is half the length (5-6") seems to work well. I only had a few days on it though. Just a reminder...PETZL IS NOT APPROVING IT FOR USE IN SINGLE LINE CONFIGURATION!!
^ Done that one a couple times before we got our newer crane with LMI.....haven't had to (it's a bigger machine). You can pick up some bad habits from the old schoolers, but lots of good ones too.
Re: SRT - Pandora\'s Box?
I've even done away with the ring/ring and went to a midline loop knot attached with a connecting link (no carabiner). Very simple.
If I can't hit my final PSP, then I will just use a running bowline with a Yosemite finish to manouver through the canopy, when I reah...
Re: SRT - Pandora\'s Box?
Scary in the fact that it would not allow the climber to be readily lowered from the ground in the event of a rescue.
A running bowline is pretty bomber if a proper back-up (Yosemite back-up or Double fisherman's) is used.
Training your entire crew on the...
Limb wood, and smaller pieces will check easier than trunks and bigger straight logs. The limb wood has a "memory" and wants to bend as it had in the tree. Keep the wood out of the sun and rain. The more consistent the conditions (humidity temp, airflow, etc), the less likely they are to check...

Jomoco, that is a good tip, if applicable. Usually if I feel I will be hanging around after a pick, I will repel down, help the ground crew until the hook is free, and ride it to the...
My certificate says I am certified by the state of RI as a licensed arborist. I don't have one from the ISA, but I am still certified, no? I'm aware the ISA is internationally recognized, so, yes, ISA cert. is definitely more broadly accepted than a RI arb license cert.
Does the ISA not require...
Don't know about you guys, but being ISA certified isn't my definition of a certified arborist. There are plenty of arborists certified by their state gov't's standards (not saying there aren't certified hacks either, that's life). In my opinion, the ISA is a racket, with all the money they...
I'm a little confused here.
Is the crane smart just an ATB system? Or does it relay boom length and angle as well? Courierguy, do you ever experience interference in the wireless system, as Bigwood mentioned above?
