This has been a great friction hitch for me for UTILITY use;
It is a Blake's -1 turn as pre-fix and post-fix of uninterrupted Round Turn(RT) as work horse.
i recommend using for life/rescue proven hitches, this is easier to make tho for other stuff.
Actually before "Blake's" was popularized thru...
Short answer: Running DBY with a pre-fix of a Half Hitch, sometimes several Halfs in weak piece to spread out stress and better chance of keeping if piece starts to crush or crumble during lowering. Side forces are real on target, shipyards would put a 'spanner board' across top of crate...
Had another problem 2x; where 5-10# 'log' walked end over end to cause damage.
One at the end of a very tough, but well executed massive Live Oak limb damaged over a house seemed no one else wanted to do because couldn't get a crane in to fancy house on city's favorite large lake . Almost done...
Note in Samson model, the player needed an equal and opposite against(so used other column)
and attacked the mighty target column of cos1(bearing massive weight properly of roof inline downward column)across at it's Achille's Heel of cos0 perpendicular to column as greatest leveraged angle. i...
Of course in pretightening friction is foe, but friend in lowering thru same system (if enough load to pull clean and not hang/seize).
Likewise, friction at a pulley on linear pull is foe, but same friction can help capture a 'purchase' (of rope from the loaded to the unloaded banks) during a...
Fighting stretch factor also, would look for compounding frictions to seize against the high power potentials shown.
.
There is another build pattern to compound quicker exchange of velocity for power (root concept).
By not just serially, simple 'daisy chain' to add another system at end with...
Sum Thoughts:
Some of best threads take on life of own.
.
i prefer a gentle giant clean machine model of having overwhelming force readily available, and only part of this spice employed. No redline to capacity necessary to work, always plenty of available 'headroom' to overtake if needed.

A regular block would give more softer bending radius with less friction.
i think hitching to something would allow bend radius X statically;
that could be too small for cranking around same arc/curve dynamically.
i have done like this, especially to industrial size clevises from local phosphate...
i look at the suggested screw links as dual leg support architecture.
>>favour screw closed and back off 1/4 turn for anti-jam at smallest loss.
vs.
single leg of support of hook
.
Carabineer as well 'moused' hook, against carabinier pulling open mostly(and rope keeper)
>>NOT a secondary leg of...
Flexible supports(rope etc.) have no side/cross axis resistance so as to give what i picture as an 'amplitude wave' of suddenly leveraged (sine)force, that rigids can't deliver(rigid sine can give lever that whip can't in trade tho). The initial force is the recoil like on wrong/breach end of...
Always a few Prusiks for small utility now, but lace on with the seam after the coils per experience making quickies whether throw away or quick release even loaded of simply using Square Knot(light utility only, tie downs etc.). It is always a very unloaded position in the chain, and holds.
As...
co-arboration?
The eagles claw is only as sharp as whatever it can draw across and how(angle, pressure etc.).
Make easy work for you, and then hard purposefully work for you too; capitalizing back on whatever was thrown at ya easy or hard. Harder task is more taxing, but then has greater...
Rope Seating to host, rules controls of frictions, nips and grips, especially in the most powerful user of these in arcs and apexes. Kinda try to listen to rope with fingers as grooming into place purposefully, it is a machine are making.
Personally prefer seam factored out of range of rawest, unbuffered forces as can; as a mantra or blind religion of faith to that ideal. Variances in strength, rigidity, elasticity etc. stirred into unbuffered region of most critical consideration otherwise, but will say is just not me as a...
A round load in parbuckle can capitialize on continuous even motion,
but the squared cant's type roll gives rests in trade of loss of continuous motion when walking up ramps etc.

A half circle arc180 is mechanically a stroke to me, another completes the cycle;
as all these pieces come together...
* A point not hit, not even by self; is 1 rope/no lanyard; in context of surprise rescue shituation. *
.
Also, one of best things i ever did, was forcing self to commit to a good habit of bringing up loopie and carabiner setups, to have ready as a standard, not an extra item to be passed up...
Okay, flipside/ Devil's Advocate view to you:
Mechanically most loaded, rigid rope part support logististic geometries will be the Standing Parts/SParts as raw linear force input positions into the controlling arc radial conversion reductions. Most rigid distortion against system possible at...
Would knot that ruin a perfect running record?

Duplicity and Dimensions of Freedom to me.
2is1 & 1isNone /Fail Safe
Possible limiters on 2 of 3 Dimensions. 1 against gravity, 1 against sway byproduct or shared V etc..

Rope is king in these primal lessons pretty Neanderthal minimals living on...
