California is an "at will" employment state. Anyone can be fired or quit at any moment for any or no reason. So for me, technically speaking, everyone is always in a probationary period...in a manner of speaking.
We force people to submit resume AND cover letter. Everyone. Even ground...
Our day starts at 7. That means the 8 hour day ends at 3:30. If the crew finishes early, they go home early, but not paid. If the job takes longer, they see it through and are on the clock that whole time. Honestly, we pay overtime on about 75% of our days. It just happens.
If you over...
Gp- that quote from Ed gilmans book identifies exactly why we should be sterilizing. MOST trees. Can you show which trees are or aren't infected? If not, why risk it?
We can make a mile long list of tree diseases....that we KNOW of. What about all the ones we don't?

This can't be true. Imagine being in court:
"Did you tell mrs Johnson in 1974 that her oak tree seemed stable and unlikely to fall?"
No court would hold you to that so many years later. There IS a limit. Where? I don't know- but it's there.

I've see these oaks (Q. agrifolia ) with spots of dead leaves. Finally got a call from a lady wondering what's the deal.
Pull some samples and did some twig dissection. Any idea what I'm looking at?

What information do you need from their website? They're an insurance company. You need it fast? You can have the deal squared away by lunchtime tomorrow. Call them and get back to tree work.

We've been using 91% alcohol for years on pole pruners, saws, hand pruners, loopers etc DAILY and have never had any tool show one spec of corrosion. I can't imagine a torch causing LESS damage to metal.
