Jobber Software

Very Nice! Thanks that helps me a lot see how they can be designed. Right now I have one I designed in word, but that's just it, it is a word doc. and can't do much else with it or tracking or invoicing from it. That is why I am looking for a program to put everything together.

Oh man sorry guys for not seeing all those replies! I must have missed the email notification from my thread subscription.

Lacky you can also print out quotes if you want to hand deliver them unless I misunderstood what you were trying to do. We do also have the blank quotes that you can print out so you can write them out on your own and then enter it into Jobber if you have to do it that way.

Friendlytree how our chemical tracking works is more made for lawn care companies. You could still use it for keeping track of what you used and when with it though.

You can do some of that data mining with out reports but I will be honest it is not the best. Reporting is a huge issue internally that we talk about all the time. Its doable but takes a bit of work to do reporting like that.

You can do a client list export and easily import it into Mailchimp. You can also use tags on clients and export only those clients for a more targeted list.

Also wanted to drop in and let you guys know about our Square integration that just got released!
JBBR-FeaturedImage-IntroToSquare.jpg

Some things to know:
  • Only for iOS devices with Square Register
  • Only for the United States
We are hoping to be able to expand that in the future but right now the Square API is very limited so there is nothing we can do.

We have our announcement blog post: https://blog.getjobber.com/2015/03/accept-payments-in-the-field-with-square/
How to setup blog post: https://blog.getjobber.com/2015/03/tips-and-tricks-start-collecting-payments-with-square/
Help center section with FAQ and setup: https://learn.getjobber.com/hc/en-us/sections/200790100-Square

And our landing page with buttons at the bottom that make the setup easy. If you already use Jobber it will turn the add-on on for you and guide you through the Square integration setup.

Let me know if you guys have any questions!

Now that's just crazy talk!!

I would like to be able to select specific line items on a quote to schedule. You can email a client the entire estimate now but if they come back with "we want to do these trees now and revisit these ones in 6 months for our budget"...you have to delete the items to revisit at a later date which completely removes them from the customer file. In order to keep them on the customer file for future reference you have to re-enter them all in on a new quote. I cannot save the winter work under the client file without deleting and re-entering when I create the job order for the current work being scheduled OR if a client chooses the hazard trim over a complete trim I cannot reference that we offered the complete trim price and they chose the hazard trim over the complete trim without having to do double entry by re-entering the complete trim quote under a different quote.

Nick - Am I missing something? Is there a way to do this that I am not seeing? How are you handling that?

You can actually when a quote gets scheduled to a job you can then delete the items in the job that they don't want competed at that time. It is a pain to do it this way. You should be able to pull items off a quote and put them into a vault under that customers name

Thanks Casey! I actually got a hold of Landen this afternoon and he explained it the same way. A year later.....guess I'm a little late to the party. Looking forward to trying it out tomorrow thank you!

I hate that part. I want to be able to select the four items I want and click "create job with selected items"

Or this one irks me:

Say I make a quote with 20 items. Client emails back "can you revise it with the first 4 items, the 7th one and 10, 14, and 19? We'll probably deal with the rest later.

Landen- how do accomplish this- you can't "create new quote with selected items" or "duplicate into new quote" or anything like that.

You have to create a new quote from scratch, or delete the non-desired items and lose your info that you'll need later.

Nick - I asked Landen yesterday if they were going to be adding this function and he said they have had people request it but its not in the works right now and he doesnt know when they will roll it out.

What Casey and Landen mentioned in regards to converting the qoute to a job, then deleting the line items that are not being completed...that is great for archiving the entire work quoted I suppose. The downfall is that the actual Job/Work order created does not show prices. I imagine because this is what the crew sees and Jobber creates the price privacy for the employer? Maybe I selected an option to not have pricing show on the work order? If you do the "Download PDF" option on a job you created does the pdf show you the pricing?

Point being...in order to resend the revised quote to the customer that you used as an example, you would still have to create an entire new quote for them to see the correct price on the work that is to be completed immediately.

This is a huge drawback. This function would be useful to all service industries....HVAC, plumbing, roofing, lawn service, landscaping...not just our industry.

if you could just duplicate a quote that would solve the entire issue. From the second duplicate you could make changes and if the client wants service items down the road you always have the original to refer to. Often times i end up asking clients for the original quote to make sure my numbers are the same. Now how about adding a sales member team function. All of my sales guys correspondence comes back to me and its annoying and counter productive!

Not quite following you here, Nick. Open the original quote and hit edit. Delete all but what you want and then resend. Thats pretty quick I think. Oooh wait. Got it. That is a problem. Indeed.

The issue is that everything you just deleted is gone from the customers file. When they call back later in the year to schedule some of the rest of the work, the office staff (or yourself) cannot easily access the work they are referring to because you DELETED it from their file completely. In order to make that information available for later you have to RE-ENTER it on a separate quote or go through your old paper files and pull the customers information. Not sure about you but when I am re-entering hundreds of estimates because of this or I am having to pull their paperwork from the files, it is time consuming. For our company, it does not matter if I have them sorted by the month the estimate was done or by their last name...its hundreds of pieces of paper. I have tried it both ways.

3 years ago this would not have been issue, but we have grown significantly. When you are doing 40-60 estimates a week...the current set up is not efficient.

If your using jobber, are you also using quick-books ? Are the two of them compatible? Sorry if this was asked already ?

Pres Tree- all the additional info on your quote that gets sent, did you create that?

How bout it, Landen? Can you make a way to select a few items and "create job with selected items?"

And why can't I re-order items from the iPad. That one is driving me nuts. I gotta call the office and tell them to move the 5th item down to after the 9th item, then I wait for them to do it and THEN I can send the estimate.

Couldn't you copy and paste or down load a PDF of the quote and save it under customer notes? It's not ideal but I've done this in the past.
