    Swurfer installation

Good question. I’ll ask my agent about my coverage. Honestly did not think about. The clients are friends of mine but don’t want to set a precedent. Thanks for the input.

    Swurfer installation

Hi folks, I have a client who would like me to hang a Swurfer swing on a red oak. The instructions say to loop the rope over the branch. Girdling the branch and rubbing the cambium are two concerns I have. Should I install eye bolts through the branch to attach the ropes to? Or am I being...

    Today....

My wife nixed the idea. We live out and ambulances regularly get lost in our part of the county. We do have my mom’s 170 and i’m thinking of slowly starting Naomi on that this spring. She is not accident prone and has great situational awareness. She is desperate to start the arborist life and...

    Today....

Absolutely! She wears that beanie everywhere. She said she is saving the sticker for her truck. . .when she gets her license. In 6 years. We were driving the other day and she said You know what Dad? I wish Cummins engines would go with a Allison transmission. Now that would be a TRUCK.

    DIY Rope Bag

Thanks for the help folks! I don’t know why but googling “stuff sacks” never entered my mind even though rope bags are just really big stuff sacks. Thanks Tom! I priced some material and my time and if a retailer has a decent sale I may try to take the “buy a dozen” approach that @cerviarborist...

    Pant's

So today I was taking down a oak for my two old hippie (their term) neighbors. First these folks are kinda amazing. The husband is a Vietnam vet and after his tour was over and he was discharged he traveled around the world. Wild wild stories about Africa in the early 70’s. He came home and was...

    Pant's

Yep, I tried on the Ascend winter pants and loved them! ( I was not the dude doing a split.)As I was at Expo and had not purchased them I can’t speak to how they perform in the wild but can say they felt comfortable and had the attention to detail that Clogger always brings to the table. They...

    Professional reference resources

Thanks @evo for the reminder. This is my first time posting on forums like this and I am still learning the etiquette. I like the this thread! So many books to read and not enough time.

    Professional reference resources

A rec professor mentioned this book to me years ago. Our mailing address is Newport but our town is Simmonsville. Just cause the USPS shut our local PO doesn’t mean we don’t exist. Not like Seldom’s town being flooded but I tell folks I live in Simmonsville. Love that book!

    Mechanical Advantage Advice

Thanks for the advice! I appreciate it. Just starting out so trying to be super careful with money gear wise. Wedges will definitely come into play for sure. I figure a pull line and MA are cheap insurance as I get more experience in felling.

How to dispose of large logs

I hear you @rico. I am scheming of ways to increase income and have a friend with a small wood drying kiln so I’ve been kinda thinking about a mill. Cash is low so a Lucas mill or Woodmizer is not in the cards. Have you ever used a Alaska chainsaw mill? If so any recommendations? Thanks!

    Mechanical Advantage Advice

Thanks Tony! I like the way those pulleys look. I’m going to give my uncle a call and see what he was thinking budget wise for gear and go from there. Thanks

    Winter coat for climbing

I use Artic Skins polypropylene as a base layer. I think we got em at Sierra Trading post. Then whatever shirt you wear. My key piece is a Mountain Hardwear Windstopper Vest. My wife found it on EBay for 20.00 shipped to us in the back of beyond VA. I bought a Patagonia fleece and that sucker...

    Sold

Winter whiskey bill huh? What whiskey if I may ask? Congrats on the sale by the way. Also, is it unprofessional to add a Miscellaneous charge to winter jobs to pay for whiskey?

    461 vrs 462

How often will you use it aloft @evo? If it were me and the saw would be mostly ground work I’d go with the 461 to stay away from the M-tronic stuff. I like @Reach’s idea of a lightweight bar. Might take that advice myself.
