Pant's

Since you are asking I'll give my opinion on the custom sizing. 15% on a close to $300.00 pair of pant's IMHO is out of control not to mention the 3-4 week wait. I have 30+ years in manufacturing and have some understanding of your process after watching the video on youtube. I know that since your cutting with CNC that it is going to take program tweak to dd some length but that is a one time minute expenditure that might possibly gain you more sales. I would just have a hard time justifying spending an extra $40.00 to get into a proper fitting pair of pant's. But I may be talking out my ass? Standard sizes here in US stores almost always carry a 36" length in work clothes, maybe it's different in your area.

Thanks for your comment NailerB. Since you are familiar with manufacturing you can probably appreciate the disruption a manufacturing line experiences making over 70 different variants and types of anything when a custom item comes through. The reason for the lead time is mainly due to scheduling of production, not to actual production time.
There is often significant time spent redoing cut files before it gets to the CNC cutter. There are a surprising amount of different parts that go into our trousers and it is not just a matter of clicking a mouse and stretching a couple of items. It would be often closer to an hour than a minute or 2.
I will also note that as far as we are aware we are the only manufacturer of chainsaw protection to offer custom sizing, and along with that, custom branding.

@Peetle

I think it would be worth making this custom-sizing availability known, clearly, with the custom-price, in its own thread in the gear section. I bet there are people who need this, and are used to paying for alterations/ custom.

$300 goes for what sound to be great pants.
$40 for alterations/ custom work seems like part of life for non-off-the-shelf people. Somehow I'm supposed to buy underwear and either fit in 28-30 or 32-34, as though nobody has a 31" waist. I'll be able to pay more for the few manufacturers, maybe European, with a 31" waist. Fit is everything.

Chainsaw-protective boots...whole sizes only. Great...fits half of the population.

$40 for custom work is just the cost of ppe, IMO.

Thanks, I'll do that!

I say pfanner is the way to go. Their warm in the winter and cool in the summer and are great for climbing in
They are a great quality pant. Obviously I am going to say ours are lighter, cooler and better :D, but the most important thing is that you have chainsaw protection that you find comfortable, unrestrictive and that will actually stop a chainsaw, whatever the brand is. Keeps safe out there folks!

The person that posts a picture on this thread of themselves or a workmate wearing Clogger gear in it prior to the end of the month (May2019) that gets the most likes will get a free Clogger beanie, cap and t shirt delivered to them anywhere globally!

This may not be the most exciting picture, but this is what we do daily.

^...as in take the bait. I realized out of context “I’ll bite” sounds weird. I wouldn’t mind a clogger T-shirt.
This photo was taken by a photographer client of mine a couple years ago. Definite filters going on there but I think it’s a good pic. The cloggers are long gone, I didn’t follow the washing instructions well. Good while they lasted, though.

Thats a cool pic! The Generation 2 Zeros we make now are a big step up from the Generation 1 you have on there, We have made a few changes which mean they last a lot longer (providing you wash them correctly ;))

Not seen any action on this thread in a while so I'll give an update. I went with the medium Zero's, a little shorter than I like but I can live with them. Quality has been great, form fit and comfort are top notch. Now the issue is it's getting cold and the zero's are not going to fly so i started looking at your other pant's that don't have cooling and back down to 32" inseam. Bummed out! Look's like I'm forced to go with ArborWear for cold weather, can get up to 36" there. Or I could move south which may be the better idea!!!

Sorry about the delay in replying! I have had a hectic few weeks, which started with the TCIA show and has only got crazier since.
@B_Strange and @HigherGroundArborist were both there and can tell about the new Ascend winter pants we had there. From my perspective I can tell you they are a little heavier than the zeros (not a lot) warmer, and stretchy enough for a dude to do the splits in them on our stand!

If you ever see me doing the splits, please straighten my legs out before the hoodoo wagon arrives to haul my dead ass to the morgue.

Still, the pants sound good. Will have to check them out!

Yep, I tried on the Ascend winter pants and loved them! ( I was not the dude doing a split.)As I was at Expo and had not purchased them I can’t speak to how they perform in the wild but can say they felt comfortable and had the attention to detail that Clogger always brings to the table. They felt like my gen 2 Zeros but a tad thicker and I believe they would be warmer in winter. I totally should have bought them that day as the Monday after Expo I was in a tree all day during that polar freeze or whatever and even with long johns on when the wind blew cheeks got chapped.

I wear my Gen 2’s every day. It’s habit to put em first thing. They are very comfortable and I think the Ascends would be as well. The fit, movement, and fabric were awesome.

My oldest daughter is helping me as a groundie and she tried on their pants for ground work and loved them. She wants a paid for Christmas! She is 16 and tall 5’6”and slim 110? and the XS’s fit her well. She said yesterday at a job that she wanted a pair and wanted to learn how to run a saw. In my mind Cloggers turned her 180 from not wanting to touch a saw to asking for a 261 to learn on. The fit (stylish enough for a 16 yo young lady) and function (comfortable for all day) and safety factor combined in a winning product for her. The Clogger guys, maybe @Peetle , said that a client of Cloggers does yoga in the pants. Pretty amazing flexibility there.

I can’t make the pants happen this winter, transmission went out on the work truck, but in the spring/summer we will do everything we can to get me another pair of Zeros and her a pair of the ground pants and I will get a pair of Ascends for next winter.

I will say that I tried on a pair of Notch chainsaw pants and did not like them at all. Not comfortable at all. Not even a bit.

The Clogger Zeros are on of my favorite tools I use ever day. Being comfortable, safe, and professional looking are huge selling points. Not having to keep up with chaps or running to put chaps on or take them off is also a time and money saver. Peace of mind is also important. In the end Cloggers have a customer for life in me and my two kids. My wife doesn’t run a saw but she loves the fact that I am safe when I work and that the kids will be safe when they run a saw. So a product that saves my my life and improves my marriage? No brainer. These pants are mithril for tree guys. Get em.

I believe Lincoln is still talking about making some climbing trousers for your 10 year old as well!
I suspect it will be a pet project of his over the next few months

No worries man! Glad to give the feedback! Ya’ll make a great product at a fair price. I heard back from Tia on the trousers. Keeping it a surprise for the little one. Thanks!

So today I was taking down a oak for my two old hippie (their term) neighbors. First these folks are kinda amazing. The husband is a Vietnam vet and after his tour was over and he was discharged he traveled around the world. Wild wild stories about Africa in the early 70’s. He came home and was a carpenter for 40+ years. He retired last year and then had a stroke thus me taking trees down for them. His wife is a USMC vet. She did meteorology for the Marines, got out and got a PhD in paleobotany and worked at the Smithsonian while her husband built their house. She then quit and moved to the back of beyond VA and did carpentry with her husband. She is late 60’s and her husband is 71 or 72.

Why this post in the pants thread you ask? Because as I was bucking the wood I had a green briar vine the size of a ICBM get me right up Main Street. I was wearing my Zero’s and my first thought was “Man, should have gotten those Ascends.” The extra tough material in the back would have come in useful today.

Sad to hear that! Its amazing how many people have incredible stories to tell if you are willing to give them the time of the day and be interested in them rather than yourself!
Well done for looking after your neighbours!
p.s. if you need new pants after your unfortunate encounter the discount code I gave you at TCIA is active until the end of the year!

I wear the Men's XSmall ... 5'8, 165lbs for reference.

I tried on the Womens XSmall by accident once ... no bueno.

I'm heading to Australia this Sunday for a year of work ... all my other saw pants are staying at home, the only ones coming with me are Gen 1 and Gen 2 Cloggers
