I actually use mine for woodworking, but it occurred to me that it might be useful for saw sharpening.
That said, I wouldn't worry too much about damaging the jaws with a bar and chain--although you could certainly line the jaws for saw work if you wanted to avoid getting oil on them.
I have...
I agree that that's an option. But I have one of those and found out that old does not always mean long-lasting, or built from modern-quality steel, or that it wasn't worn out by long use. Just about all of the screw threads on my antique saw-vise are shot.
However, for about the same price...
Hi,
I just had to have one of these Moxon vises: https://www.lakeerietoolworks.com/collections/moxon-vise-screw-kit-1/products/moxon-vise-screw-kit
I wonder if it would help when sharpening saw blades. While one would need to place the mounting clamps to the rear and out of the way (at least...
I'll note that the ONLY negative things said about you here have come from you--and you alone. On the flip side--based on words/thoughts you've shared with us on your good days--we tend to believe that you're a good guy who deserves a good life.
So, stop listening to that guy in your head and...
Emptying all the booze bottles down the sink has sometimes brought me healthy behavioral change: Cathartic. So has broadcasting my cannabis into the wind to render it irretrievable. "Well, it's time for bed soon, anyhow; I'll try out another day tomorrow."
Funny thing, Climbing Monkey, I came...
Climbing Monkey, it sounds to me like you are working yourself up and that you might plan to use the lack of responses here as your excuse for doing so. Lots of people are busy today so please don't feel ignored. Maybe go for a walk, sit out under a tree. Visit a park. What I do know is that...

Dear Climbing Monkey,
I was deeply touched and inspired recently after reading your post (below, at page bottom), in which you reached out to help someone else who needed a friend. I actually asked myself, "Is this the Climbing Monkey, the person whom we all cared (care) about and kept a...
I learned that the hard way when I used my friend's Husky with a dull chain--ended up burning the engine's cylinders. Should have seen his face when I brought him back a box full of saw parts! What the F*** he said.
Well, I let him think the worst of me for a minute or so--and then pulled out...
Does anyone still believe that Trump--a man who lied 30,000 times (documented) while in office--would not deliver these documents to our potential enemies if he thought it would bring him money and power? This is the man who publicly called upon WikiLeaks to release top-secret information...
You got to believe in somethin' . . . Why not believe in me? {The Pointer Sisters}
I've always thought that I'd be a real good spokesperson if I truly believed in the product; nothing wrong with that.
I think I may have wet myself a little bit when hearing the FBI overran "Trump Palace!"
Even better when he was the one to report it--whining about Hillary's emails the whole time. He even had the balls to include a call for donations to his PAC in his message! Sad thing is that supporters will...
While caffeine may be innocuous, and even moderating, for many folks, it is undeniably a counterproductive addictive substance for many others. Every time I have given up coffee for three weeks or more, I have entered into a newfound relaxed state.
I have many food allergies as well, so I know...
Quote: "The other climbers I deal with through work are very negative and try to tear you down before they offer any advice. I’ve wondered if changing companies would even help but the problem with that is the company now has full time work year round and I wouldn’t want to risk losing that by...
Also, has anyone noticed that a simple visit to a website these days will result in emails from that company--even though you never gave them your address? Apparently, it's now OK for them to match your IP Address to your email and begin hounding you; I call that harassment and a breach of...
