    Yep slippery girth hitch here as well. It doesn’t really take much more time to tie than just girthing a knotted/spliced loop. Plus it’s saved me from countless stuck throw weights over the years. But the spliced loop is good splicing practice too.

    my ported 400 is one of my favorite saws! I’d say go for it. 70cc power in a 60cc chassis. Very nimble and light handling saw.

    Just about every rental yard around will have a tow behind compressor. I just rent one when I need it. I’ve never used the 25 but suspect you’d be wanting the 85 before you know it. Of course I should qualify that by saying our soil around here has a high clay content.

    It makes good shoulder season firewood. The wood also makes interesting tool handles or bowls because of the red coloring that can be present. Other than that I can’t say another positive thing about the tree. In an urban environment they are usually a big nuisance.

    In general I’ve found that any chipper I’ve ever used has had trouble with dead wood vs green. It’s definitely not a mindless shove whatever fits task. I’ve gone as far as bringing sweepers from a previous job to a deadwood removal. As long as there was room and it wasn’t too much of a hassle...
