My main point at the moment is the use of Technora and Vectran for life support rather then friction hitches, may it be for friction savers, redirect-(or any kind of-)slings, stem anchors, whatever.
How do they hold on when exposed to our work-environment?

I found information (or at least mentioning) on the Buzz about flex-fatigue here and there, but not really a thread to sum up info about physical properties of modern high-modulus fibers as Dyneema, Technora, Vectran, PBO etc., and especially information about aging and UV degradation...
The ring itself isnt certified (and thats a big issue in EU somehow ;), only as part of the sequoia, so they dare not to sell it for itself. I think its not even allowed if they would sell it as PPE, but hey, they just could call it an accessory part, hehe.

I could imagine that with time (and abrasion) fatter rope will run smoother. ;)
Though the pulley seems pretty stuffed with your 1/2" Kernmaster (is that right?), so I am not to confident that it'll wotk out good with...

The bend takes place over a longer section of rope with two rings Vs. one. The rope only seeing 90° of bend at each ring...

I do not agree in the importance of the FL Event, it seems outdated to me.
Thats not to say footlocking isnt important...
I'd say it really depends on the system you are using!
If there is no chest ascender (or some devive high up in front of you) I'd go as low as it gets with the hand ascender. No reason to work over head if you dont have to, we do it enough in other situations...
