Im not sure with OSHA. I have no problem using them and a clove Hitch or cow hitch. Never Been a problem for me in 27 years. They like everything else need to be tied properly. I even started my career using a clove to tie in to my harness. -

Big Buck Velcro Pads
I have used the big bucks with leather straps for 20 years. They are by far the most comfortable I have worn. I use the saw pod on both the outside and underneath with no issues.- allmark

Nice job. There is nothing wrong with smaller picks. Too any times I hear that a crane is too small for tree work. I started with a 12 1/2 ton crane and did a ton of work with it. It is no different than manual rigging. Work within the capacity of the resources you have. -
